It has been five weeks since the hearts of the orange army skipped a beat when Max Verstappen made a concerning revelation. For those who don’t remember, the reigning champion threatened to quit F1 amidst all the changes to the traditional format. The eerie confession sent the world of F1 into a frenzy. The rumor of Verstappen quitting has since died down and the Dutchman was back to winning ways, as he showcased his superiority in Miami. However, Verstappen caught his fans by surprise, potentially sparking another round of rumors in an unearthed video.
Everyone, including the Red Bull taskmaster Helmut Marko, sided with the FIA’s decision to revamp the sprint weekend structure. The threat eventually died down after the Azerbaijan GP, the first sprint race of the season. However, in this unearthed video on Instagram, Verstappen made an interesting revelation during a conversation with Sergio Perez and a couple of podcast hosts. Let us take you through the conversation.
Host: Sometimes there’ll be things that you think someone else is doing something dangerous to you. After the race, do you ever go and talk to those guys?
Max Verstappen (MV): Yeah depends, of course, how bad.. if you really want to say something.
Sergio Perez (SP): He had a word with one of the other drivers but it doesn’t get like.. because in NASCAR like..
Host: (interrupts) They fight. They fist fight.
MV: I’m in the wrong sport. (Verstappen jokes)
Host: Would you like to fight other drivers?
MV: (shakes his head) No.. I’m honestly joking. Even if you grab a collar, you get already two days of homework. I’ve done that already so..
