There is a buzz around the upcoming nuptials of the Mexican-born NASCAR driver, Daniel Suarez, to Julia Piquet. Last month, the couple announced that Suarez had proposed to his girlfriend Julia Piquet in Monaco. Fortunately for Suarez, his upcoming marriage will see him being welcomed into the family of a legend who is widely considered to be among the greatest F1 drivers of all time.

It turns out that Julia Piquet is the daughter of former Brazilian F1 champion Nelson Piquet. For those unaware, Nelson Piquet is a former F1 champion, with stints at teams such as Brabham, Williams, Lotus, and Benetton. He won the prestigious World Championship title thrice in 1981, 1983, and 1987, following which, he got involved in other racing ventures including the 24 Hours of Le Mans and Indy 500. Incidentally, during a practice session at the latter, he ended up injuring himself badly in a wreck.

The caption to the photos read, I learned a thing or two from this F1 Legend today! In the photographs, the men are seen admiring the sights of a Williams Formula One car, hanging by a wall.

Nelson Piquet becoming Suarez’s father-in-law is interesting, to say the least. The Piquet family is full of racing icons. Both of Piquet’s daughters are with motorsport drivers—Julia with Suarez and Kelly with F1’s Max Verstappen. Julia was actually brought up in Miami and was even recently featured in the NASCAR docuseries, Race for the Championship. In the docuseries, she was seen supporting her soon-to-be husband through the highs and lows of racing life.
