Following the McLaren seat saga, Daniel Ricciardo finds himself out of a contract next year in Formula 1. However, the Honey Badger was asked if he was open to the idea of racing in IndyCar, but he promptly declined the offer suggesting that he was ‘scared’ of racing on Ovals.
Soon fans took over Twitter to praise the former IndyCar driver Danica Patrick for being braver that the F1 driver and for racing on ovals.

A NASCAR writer replied to an ESPN F1 tweet, “It’s stuff like this where you realize people took for granted how brave Danica was. She was from the IRL era of 215mph, 2 feet apart and was vocal in saying “less ovals, I’m gone.” You see these F1 guys scared and know that Danica was one of the toughest damn drivers around.”
This came right after Formula One driver, Daniel Ricciardo, stated that he did not want to race in IndyCar since he was reportedly scared of Ovals.
Fans praise Danica Patrick’s IndyCar days
NASCAR fans were appreciative of the courage that Danica Patrick had while racing ovals. It is known that Patrick was a big supporter of oval racing during her IndyCar days. Some even argued that if Danica had remained in IndyCar she perhaps could have attempted to challenge for the championship on the day.

If she stayed in Indy, she’d be remembered very differently

Absolutely! Everyone has their own opinion on Danica, but during the IRL years, I attended every race around the Midwest except Kansas. She was competitive, drove hard and was near the front or mid pack most of those races. She doesn’t get the credit she deserves imho!

Who knows what could have been the case had Patrick decided to remain in IndyCar and not make her move into NASCAR? Perhaps she could have converted that one win into multiple wins in the future. Or as suggested by countless fans, she could perhaps one day even challenge for the championship. Anything could have been possible and honestly, also might have been better than her tumultuous NASCAR career.
