When one door closes, another one opens.” We must have heard this saying, and it came true for 29-year-old Chase Briscoe. Nearly two months ago, Stewart-Haas Racing announced it would shut down its operations after the 2024 season. While one of its drivers (Ryan Preece) still doesn’t have a team for 2025, the Indiana native did not waste any opportunity in finding himself one of the best seats.

Set to join Joe Gibbs Racing, Briscoe addressed the “worst kept secret” (thanks to Christopher Bell) as he talked to EssentiallySports’ Bharat Aggarwal at Pocono Raceway. And one important question he exclusively answered was whether or not his sponsors would move with him. Briscoe also revealed the current status and possible plans with Joe Gibbs Racing.

Mahindra to follow suit with Chase Briscoe?

For a NASCAR driver, having a reliable sponsor is sacrosanct. And Chase Briscoe was fortunate enough to find it in Mahindra Ag North America. Joining #14 in 2022 as an anchor partner, the brand extended their partnership in late November last year with a multi-year agreement. They also served as his primary sponsor for the Chili Bowl Nationals. But with Briscoe leaving for greener pastures, what happens to the relationship? Will they move to the new team, too?

When EssentiallySports, official media partners of Real American Beer at Pocono, stopped for an exclusive chat and dove deeper into this aspect, Chase Briscoe gave a candid reply. “Yeah, I’m not sure yet. You know, it’s something that we still got to try to figure out. You know, it’s something that when we all started talking, I was never really even a part of the discussion. So yeah, I, I don’t know.

Briscoe further explained, “ I would love to obviously keep all the partners I have right now in the 14 car. All those guys are like family.” He has also been supported by HighPoint Racing, since 2019. And just like Mahindra, the driver shares a special relationship with the brand, which he further revealed to Bharat.

He said, “You know, even the last time I went to the High Point family’s house and hung out with them all day, and we never talked racing or business once we just hung out and went fishing all day.” Noting the same sentiment, he added, “So I would love to keep a relationship with them and just, uh, you know, figure out how to do it.”

Now that’s something wholesome we don’t often hear about, is it? Speaking of wholesomeness, the driver hasn’t had a dearth of that experience in the last few months!

With how quickly his transition to Joe Gibbs’ team came together, one can’t help but wonder what went down behind the scenes. And who better to answer it than the man of the hour itself. Speaking with veteran sports radio host (and one the first few women to do so), Claire B Lang , the SHR racer said it was actually Joe Gibbs who reached out to him first.

“I didn’t really have anything until last week and a half and then it came together. I felt like I was gonna have something on the table; I didn’t know what it was gonna be or what opportunities it was gonna be up until when Joe (Gibbs) first reached out. I was not with any team up until that point,” he said last month.

In fact, the team owner had his sights set on the driver and was reportedly very “adamant” about what he wanted. According to the driver, “He (Joe Gibbs) was pretty adamant that he wanted it to be quick and he didn’t wanna lose me to somebody else, he kept saying. It all happened crazy fast.” Interestingly, in the driver’s own words, Joe Gibbs Racing was the only team that wasn’t concerned with what sponsorship money he could bring!

All in all, replacing Martin Truex Jr in the No. 19 spot is no easy task. But with six top-10 finishes and two top-5 finishes under his belt, Briscoe is riding high on confidence. With old friend Christopher Bell by his side, Chase Briscoe would be eager to add Mahindra to his new adventure. While Briscoe prepares for his next season, we at EssentiallySports send good luck to him and his future team!
