NASCAR driver Josh Williams recently took a trip down memory lane, recalling his childhood memories with his former best friend and fellow racer, Bubba Wallace. In a recent exclusive interview with EssentiallySports, Williams reminisced about the good old days when he and Wallace used to race legends cars and hang out together.

Josh Williams Recalls Fond Memories with ‘Childhood Bestfriend’ Bubba Wallace

Born and brought up in North Carolina as Williams recounts in his interview, he and Wallace were practically inseparable as kids. They spent countless hours together racing legends cars, creating a bond that was rooted in a shared love of speed and competition. Williams describes their time together as “hilarious,” and said, “Me & Bubba Wallace used to be like best friends when we were kids, running legends cars of bands” with both boys pushing each other to be their best on the track.

Recounting the memories, Williams added, “We grew up together and I either lived at his house or he lived in my house, that’s how it worked.”

Their close friendship was reflected in their living arrangements, with Williams and Wallace often swapping houses and spending time together, both on and off the track. It was clear to everyone who knew them that they were the best of friends, with their shared love of racing and their natural chemistry creating a bond that was unbreakable.

Despite not talking as much as they used to, Williams said that he still has a lot of respect for Wallace and what he has accomplished in his career. He said, “Yeah, not anymore I mean I’m doing my deal and he’s doing his deal since you know we’re both you know we always see each other or whatever in the the garage and we’ll talk for a little bit.”

As they got older, Williams and Wallace continued to pursue their racing dreams. They both knew they wanted to make a career out of it, and they worked hard to make that happen. Williams eventually landed a spot in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, while Wallace went on to compete in the NASCAR Cup Series.

Wallace is now a prominent figure in NASCAR, having made history as the first African American driver to compete full-time in the Cup Series since 1971. He is known for his impressive driving skills and his advocacy for racial justice in the sport. While Williams is known as a successful driver in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, competing full-time in the No. 92 Chevrolet Camaro for DGM Racing.

He has also competed in the NASCAR Truck Series and the ARCA Menards Series, where he has recorded two wins and 35 top-ten finishes. But Williams’ racing success is not limited to his own career as a driver. He is also a team owner, running Josh Williams Motorsports. The team fields cars for development drivers in ARCA, late model racing, legends car racing, and bandolero racing.

As Williams continues to pursue his own racing career, he remains grateful for the memories he shared with Wallace during their childhood. He believes that their friendship has stood the test of time, and he looks forward to catching up with his old friend whenever they cross paths.
