It is no secret that Venturini Motorsports has been a household name in the motorsports world. After all, it is the longest continually operated ARCA racing team in the United States. While the Venturini family has continuously seen family members being on and off the track, it will not be the same with Billy Venturini and his children. In an exclusive interview with EssentiallySports, he gave a glimpse of it.

Since 2007, Billy has been involved intensely in the Venturini Driver Development Program. While he has helped in produce some fine drivers, he has different plans when it comes to his twin sons.

Over a period of almost seven decades, the Venturini name has built its own legacy that started with Tony Venturini. Tony started stock car racing in the 1950s and is unarguably one of the early pioneers of the sport. He was followed by Bill Venturini Sr who only took it to the next level.

With two ARCA Racing Series championships to his name, Bill Sr is a renowned entity in the automobile racing arena. Interestingly, he helped form the first all-female pit crew in the motorsports world, which was led by his wife, Cathy. As the legacy passed on to his son, Billy Venturini, the face of Venturini Motorsports had a different look.

While Billy has 162 career ARCA starts to his name, he finished 28 times in the top five and 75 times in the top ten. This also includes a win at the iconic Salem Speedway. Despite the Venturini family being so much into racing, Billy recently confirmed in an exclusive interview with EssentiallySports that his children’s interests lie elsewhere.

Billy Venturini has twin sons, Luke and Max. When asked if they would be seen on the track racing soon, he said, “No, they won’t be driving. One works part-time here and the other one works quite a bit here and goes a lot of races with me. I have got one [son] that’s quite bigger than the other even though they are identical twins and he’s a football player.”

The 47-year-old further added, “That’s what he does, that’s what his passion is. It’s kind of fun to be able to see that and I’m glad I at least know what all those parents feel like because I am now that parent with my own kid when he’s playing his sport. So, I’m just like all these parents now, I’m just a cheerleading dad.”

While it is surprising, it is good to know how Venturini strongly supports his kid’s passion. However, it is not just his twins that he adores so much.

Since 2007, Venturini Motorsports’ model has been developing drivers with their development program. While Billy Venturini has played a massive role in building and operating the program, it has certainly produced some amazing talents. One of them includes Jesse Love, the latest Xfinity Series signing for Richard Childress Racing.

In the exclusive interview with EssentiallySports, Venturini explained how he almost parented Love. He said, “So it was a four-year process with him[Love]. A lot of teaching is involved there. A lot of coaching, probably almost more parent raising with him too.”

It was then that Billy expressed how, despite Love’s move to RCR, he holds a special place in his heart. The VMS co-owner said, “He [Love] comes from a great household, but he was a 15, 16-year-old kid, he moved out East, parents still lived out West. So that’s not an uncommon thing in our industry. So then you kind of almost got to help finish kind of raising these young men. And it was a very productive four years and Jesse’s someone that’s really special to me.”

Indeed, Billy Venturini tends to invest a lot of time and emotions into the drivers that come into the development program. This is probably the very reason why the program has turned out to be quite impressive. It just makes one wonder how it could have been had Billy’s sons been interested in racing.
