Redditor @cheap_heat2 shared some pictures from his vacation to Charlotte that underline the love the city has for Earnhardt. Through a plan made in collaboration with the holiday inn officials, he requested the management to provide them a room with a picture of Dale Sr just to tease his wife.

“Wife and I went to CLT for a quick trip and I asked the hotel to place a framed picture of Dale on the nightstand to annoy my wife. They went above and beyond,” was the caption of the post. Surprisingly, the management not just obeyed but went far and beyond to accommodate his wish.

In fact, the management supplied him with more pictures than he had anticipated. Some drivers on the r/NASCAR subreddit also took notice of the event, including Stewart-Haas Racing driver Chase Briscoe, and 2018 and 2022 Cup Series champion Joey Logano who expressed their opinion on the wholesome prank. Briscoe was all-in for the images as he pointed out one particular picture of Earnhardt which was placed in a rather unexpected place, inside the shower room.

Meanwhile, Logano had a question about Dale Sr’s influence in North Carolina as he asked, “Do Hotels in NC just have pictures of Dale lying around?”

Replying to Joey Logano’s inquiry, one fan said,  Every NC resident is issued one at birth, and you can request more at your local post office.” It might have a hint of sarcasm to it but the answer does indeed signify the importance of Dale Earnhardt in North Carolina.

Another fan was unhappy that the allegiance to the late driver has been limited to the region. Calling himself an American in the truest sense, he said, “As a 100% True Blooded American, I’m disappointed you are only restricting this to the state of North Carolina. What kind of sociopath DOESN’T have a picture of Dale at any residence? Raise hell, Praise Dale.”

Tell me they gave you room 333. Please.” commented another Earnhardt follower who wanted the prankster to get a room with symbolic value to Earnhardt’s #3. Another simply couldn’t hold in his curiosity as he enquired, “That is really awesome! If you dont mind sharing, which Holiday Inn in Charlotte was this? I need to take note the next time I’m staying at CLT.”.
