This weekend is the NASCAR Cup Series race at the Los Angeles Coliseum. Since this is the track’s debut, the sport is pretty much going all out in terms of promotion. Recently, NASCAR announced a partnership with the eSports group, FaZe Clan. Together, they are releasing a co-branded merchandise line at the Coliseum.

It is also worth mentioning that several members of the group will be present at the track for the inaugural race. According to Senior Vice President Tim Clark, “This collaboration is special in that it captures the evolution of the NASCAR brand. In recent years, we’ve really been inspired by gaming culture, and FaZe Clan specifically, to connect our brand more authentically with the next generation of fans. Gaming is in our DNA and FaZe Clan was an ideal partner for this collaboration which showcases the traditional NASCAR and racing iconography, but with a modern gaming twist.”

What to expect from the NASCAR Cup race at the LA Coliseum?

Admittedly, there is a lot riding on this race. First and foremost, this is the first time the Next Gen cars will be properly racing each other. Additionally, this is a brand new track, so it will be a massive learning curve for the entire grid. Of course, the Coliseum has also seen its fair share of criticism, due to its short nature.

One thing is for sure, the opening race of the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season will be hugely exciting. As the Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum is a non-point-scoring race, none of the drivers will be too worried. However, the real season begins a couple of weeks later at the Daytona International Speedway. From there, defending champion Kyle Larson can truly kick off his title defense in earnest. Naturally, he will face stiff competition, but the #5 Hendrick Motorsports driver will be ready.
