Speaking about the move, Erik Jones said, “It’s going to be pretty different. We’re moving into their shop and there’s going to be way more people involved. With a lot of good things, as far as what I’ve learned so far about this going forward and what this new ownership is going to be like. I think it’s pretty exciting, there’s a lot of good people already, at GMS and I think that they are working towards hiring more people.”

The driver acknowledged that the Richard Petty team has been quite committed to the Cup Series. GMS Racing has also been committed to its Truck campaign, but he does not see that changing now in the Cup arena. Now, he is looking forward to working with Ty Dillon and the two of them plan to build up the program.
According to Jones, all the new hires are there to make the partnership a bigger and better program. Both organisations have been in NASCAR for a pretty long time. So this only goes to show how focused and dedicated they were to its success. Now, it will be interesting to see how both teams perform in 2022.
