Home/NASCAR

When the 2020 NASCAR Cup season concludes, the sport will finally bid adieu to Jimmie Johnson and Clint Bowyer. While Johnson will head to the IndyCar arena, Bowyer will head to the FOX Sports commentary booth.

With Bowyer’s departure inching closer, teammate Kevin Harvick took the opportunity to reveal what he will miss about the 41-year-old.

He said, “The meetings will probably get longer because he won’t get up and leave after he gets bored. Definitely lose some entertainment value, for sure.”

Harvick finished the race in 2nd place behind race winner Joey Logano and praised his defensive abilities. He found it incredibly difficult to challenge Logano in the closing laps.

Even the presence of slower traffic did not work to Harvick’s advantage as he was forced to settle for 2nd.

Clint Bowyer is counting the days to his retirement

Since he is out of the playoff running, the NASCAR veteran is under no pressure at all. In other words, he has nothing to lose in the remaining 3 races.

NASCAR even paid tribute to the retiring Clint Bowyer on home soil on Sunday. Not only did they let him bask in the love of his fans, but he got a chance to run a pre-race lap behind the pace car.

A group of spectators even lined up to form the number 14, which is Bowyer’s racing number.

This might be the only lap I’ve ever led at this place,” Bowyer said, laughing on his team radio as he led the pace lap.

There was even a Thank-You message on the wall for the soon-to-retire driver. Luckily, NASCAR fans won’t be seeing the last of him. As mentioned before, he will stick around the paddock, functioning in the capacity of a commentator for FOX Sports.
