When Ross Chastain ran the wreck fest at Gateway about a month ago, his team owner Justin Marks not only defended him, but also suggested that several top drivers in the NASCAR Cup Series weren’t very welcoming to Chastain. Well, he suggested the same thing again, only this time with a metaphor in a conversation with Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Marks was this week’s guest on the Dale Jr. Download, the podcast show of the NASCAR Hall Of Famer.
And it was during this appearance on the show that he suggested that drivers like Chase Elliott, Kyle Busch, Joey Logano, and Denny Hamlin weren’t exactly pleased with Chastain joining their party week in and week out.
“He’s gotta learn Denny, he’s gotta learn Chase, he’s gotta learn Joey and Kyle and Martin and all these guys. They’re all different and they’re all, in different degrees, unhappy to see him there,” Marks said.
“I told him one time, ‘You’re not necessarily doing anything wrong by going out there and fighting’. I mean, he can make some better decisions at the moment, but just your general level of aggression isn’t wrong,'” he continued.
“It’s just you’ve entered a chat that you’re not really welcome in.”
“Because these guys are used to racing with these guys every single week and all of a sudden, you’re here every single week, and its just they’re not reacting well to it,” he added.
Dale Earnhardt Jr wasn’t pleased with Ross Chastain’s apology
Right after the race at Gateway, Ross Chastain apologized for the way he drove in the race, causing so many incidents. However, his apology was something that didn’t exactly please Dale Earnhardt Jr.

“It was so weird. It’s like a boy walks into the Seven-Eleven and shoplifts. Walks out and you catch him red-handed. He goes, ‘Ah yeah, shouldn’t have done that. Darn, I know I messed up. Yep, you got me’. All the while, he’s trying to walk off with that piece of candy he picked up,” he said. “He’s like, ‘Man! If I profusely apologise, maybe I get to keep this candy.'”

“His words after the race were bullsh*t! He did [take responsibility], but he poured it on so thick! At one point I almost thought he might be mocking us.”
