Kyle Busch is relatively well-known for being brusque with the media, especially on a bad day. Earlier at the Daytona International Speedway, Busch was caught up in an incident during the second Duel race, hampering the race for multiple drivers, including Busch, Blaney and more, with Ryan Blaney’s car even catching fire. Naturally, Busch, who is yet to register a win at the Daytona 500, was fuming and ruing the chance to get a good starting position.

What triggered Kyle Busch after the race?

During an interview after the Duel, Busch was asked whether he had learned something about his car for Sunday’s race. At face value, this would have been a completely normal question, because this was, in essence, a qualifying session. However, given that Kyle Busch had crashed out, this seemingly irked him. Kyle Busch quipped, “I’m not racing that one anymore. Point taken.”

On the bright side, the Richard Childress Racing star did have a wry smile on his face. What makes things even better is that, despite starting pretty low down the order, it is a long race. As a result, there will be plenty of time for him to fight his way up the pack. Additionally, a track like the Daytona International Speedway usually witnesses massive multi-car wrecks. If Kyle Busch can escape unscathed and keep his nose clean, he can catapult up the order and have a shot at finally winning a Daytona 500 race.

At the time of the incident, Ryan Blaney was running fifth, and attempted a move on William Byron. The Hendrick Motorsports driver threw up a block and Blaney dove low to evade. The #12 driver managed to get a decent run, while the #24 driver lost momentum. Behind them, Kyle Busch and Brad Keselowski approached Byron’s rear bumper a little too rapidly. Busch made contact with Byron’s bumper and spun him into Blaney’s right rear. It ended with Blaney’s car getting completely wrecked, going up in flames.

As a result of the incident, Kyle Busch, along with Byron, Blaney, Noah Gragson and Daniel Hemric will race in backup cars.

Meanwhile, a furious Blaney was left ruminating his rotten luck at the Daytona International Speedway. Speaking of the incident, Blaney said, “Pissed. I’m pissed. I’m sick of getting right-reared here by someone else’s awful push …, we have a backup car for the 500. Did everything right tonight, and now we have to work our a** off the next two days trying to get a 500 car ready, so I’m pissed and I have every right to be pissed.”
