The identical twin grandsons were also born to his daughter, Rebecca Petty Moffitt.

The NASCAR legend recently made a huge donation to the Victoria Junction, a camp dedicated to children with serious illness, and chronic medical conditions. Petty donated approximately 403 acres of land to the camp. He expressed, “My family and I are dedicated to leaving a legacy. By donating an additional 403 acres, we hope to ensure the camp can continue serving even more children”. This shows the Petty family’s long-standing dedication to supporting children in need.

The Petty family has its roots in NASCAR from way back. Richard’s father, Lee Petty, was one of the pioneers in the sport. Lee was the first driver to win the Daytona 500 three times. As if that wasn’t all, Adam Petty, son of Kyle Petty, was a promising young driver and the first fourth-generation driver in NASCAR’s history. Adam sadly passed away at the age of 19 in 2000, during a practice session for the Busch 200 race. However, Richard’s grandson, Thad Moffitt, is aiming to make his own mark in the racing world as he works toward a future in NASCAR.
