Alex Bowman currently forms the last member of the Hendrick Motorsports quartet. So far, he has seven Cup wins in his career and there will be plenty more on the horizon. However, he wasn’t always in the Hendrick Motorsports stable during his Cup Series career.

He made his Cup Series debut in 2014 for BK Racing and had a best finish of 13th, his only Top 20 finish. A year later, he moved to Tommy Baldwin Racing and notched up three Top 20 finishes.

Finally, he got the big move to Hendrick Motorsports in 2016, though he made limited appearances. After a break in 2017, he was recruited on a full-time basis and has never looked back since. However, his early years in the Cup Series were quite trying, to say the least. This was especially true during his tenure at Tommy Baldwin Racing in the #7 Chevrolet.

One Incident Stood Out for the Hendrick Motorsports Star in 2015

During the Cup race at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway, things got a little heated for Bowman. Apparently, his right front brake was on fire and it exploded his tire. The incident occurred during his pit stop and only got worse when he exited the pit lane, forcing him to pull over. This also brought out the second caution of the day and it was game over for Bowman.

Fortunately, Bowman was able to scramble out of his car and get to safety, post haste.

However, it did mean that he had to gaze forlornly at the flaming car. Fortunately, the marshals were quick on the scene and were able to put it out. Alex Bowman eventually managed to get back in his car and continue racing, but the rest of his race was compromised.

While Bowman was waiting for the flames to be put out, there was a hilarious incident. As the marshals rolled up in the fire truck, one of them accidentally tripped over his own feet and was sent sprawling.

Admittedly, Bowman was still in a bit of a frenzied state, so he found the moment exasperating. This was likely because it meant that his car was burning for a little while longer, so he threw up an arm in frustration.
