But as it turns out, it wasn’t all that unintentional.
Denny Hamlin saw the opportunity to take revenge and did
Speaking in a recent episode of his podcast show, Actions Detrimental, Hamlin opened up on why it took him so long to take his revenge and why the conditions towards the end of the Phoenix race were ideal.
“It’s difficult because at times people want me to react right away, but I don’t want to involve any other cars. I told you guys, privately, my friends; it’s difficult to be in a position where you can get back at a person and not involve an innocent bystander,” he described. “It’s really hard to do because then you got other people pi**ed at you because you’re doing something that affected their race when they had nothing to do with it.”“I never wanted to do that.”Hamlin recalled how, at
Pocono, an innocent driver got caught up in the mix when Chastain bounced back off the wall. But in Phoenix, things were different. “I saw we were the only people up top, so I said I’m gonna send him in the fence and door him,” he claimed. However, having done what he did, Hamlin quickly realized he got a little bit more involved than he would’ve wanted to.
“My dumb*ss got caught up in it because I got pinned, he was between me & the wall and then so I got all screwed up and I lost a bunch of positions for my team which was stupid as sh*t,” he added.Watch this Story: Fans react as “Embarrassing AF” statistic sees NASCAR’s head down in shame

Having revealed what he did in Phoenix was intentional, Denny Hamlin also revealed that Chastain more or less knew what happened to him was something he deserved.
