Is everything fair in love and war? The answer can be ambiguous in nature. But everything was not fair on Kyle Larson’s part, and the race at Dover Motor Speedway bears testament to that. The Wurth 400 race was filled with nerve-wracking crashes, along with some deserving wins. However, the pivotal event that grabbed the most attention in Monday’s race was Ross Chastain, once again, wrecking fellow drivers.

This time, it was Kyle Larson who fell victim to it.

Although the Hendrick Motorsports driver had a good edge in the race, everything went to waste, and achieving a good finish seemed bleak for the No.5 driver. The reason was Ross Chastain, who collided with Brennan Poole of Rick Ware Racing, who in turn, collided with Larson at the outside retaining wall.

While still at the wheel and limping back into the race, the 2021 Cup Series Champion could be heard heaving his annoyance on the team radio, “What a f***ing idiot. Flat-out wrecked him. We are in the first stage.”

Not only Larson, but even the 1989 Winston Cup Series Champion, Rusty Wallace, questioned Chastain’s motives, saying, “That was a little too aggressive in my opinion.”

In the post-race interview, Larson let out, It was a long frustrating day for me, where I got caught up with something which was not my fault.”

After hearing that the #1 driver had apologized for his actions, Larson added, “I don’t know. I would understand if it was third stage or something. But it was in the middle of the first stage, where you make an error like that. And his errors never affect him negatively.”

Even Brennan Poole lashed out at Ross Chastain. In a post-race interview, he said, “There’s not like a whole lot of room, there’s nothing more I could do in the situation. I haven’t seen the replay, but I felt I just got ran over. I mean really for no reason 80 laps into the race. Doesn’t make any sense to me but I guess he’s been known to do here recently. Probably needs to get b*tt wh**ped.”

It was the “same song different verse” for Larson

Needless to say that the past two races have not gone well with the No.5 driver. His frustration after the race at Dover was evident. He exclaimed, “I just find it funny. He always comes out on the good end. It’s just is what it is.”

The previous race at Talladega witnessed a similar type of wreck as well. Kyle Larson was caught in a violent crash with Stewart-Haas’ driver Ryan Preece.
