Joe Gibbs Racing, one of NASCAR’s most triumphant teams, leaves no stone unturned in their quest for success. They are meticulous in their efforts to secure top-performing drivers and provide them with every essential element for triumph, from securing ideal sponsors and high-performance cars to assembling a lightning-fast pit crew.
In fact, JGR boasts a remarkable achievement—the record for the swiftest pit stop in NASCAR history, clocking in at a mere 8.54 seconds. During this feat, the pit crew adeptly executed a complete tire change and refueled the car in a blink of an eye. Yet, amidst these tales of precision and excellence, an unexpected revelation emerged from Joe Gibbs’s daughter-in-law, defying the expectations of NASCAR enthusiasts and, quite possibly, even Joe Gibbs himself.

Joe Gibbs, along with his daughter-in-law, Heather Gibbs, who serves as co-owner of JGR, recently unveiled their strategy of wholeheartedly embracing social media to bolster their team’s fan base. Their dedication to marketing has yielded remarkable improvements for the entire JGR squad. What sets this approach apart is the team’s commitment not only to showcasing their drivers’ talents but also to highlighting their pit crew members. In a groundbreaking move, JGR became the first to publicly announce contract extensions for their invaluable pit crew staff.
As per racingamerica.com, Heather Gibbs articulated this approach, stating, “I would say for me, especially having the youngest driver in the field, who doesn’t necessarily want all of the attention, that you’ve got so many other players on the field.”
Delving deeper into the team’s inner workings, she added, “I think the personality of our pit crews has really taken off. There’s so much diversity; they come from so many different backgrounds. Most of them didn’t grow up saying, ‘I want to change tires for a living.’ Some of these guys don’t know anything about NASCAR; they’re phenomenal athletes. I love their storyline. I think they’re so much fun and can draw in a whole different audience and maybe take some of the pressure off.”
While this divulgence of insider insights may serve as a strategic move to attract new fans or perhaps an inadvertent revelation, it undeniably piqued the curiosity of NASCAR enthusiasts. However, despite JGR’s commendable efforts to promote their crew members, it appears that they haven’t been immune to setbacks. Just recently, NASCAR announced the suspension of two crew members from the #54 team.

In a recent development, NASCAR has handed down suspensions to two crucial crew members from Joe Gibbs Racing’s No. 54 Toyota team, which caters to rookie driver Ty Gibbs. These suspensions come in the wake of a wheel detachment incident during last Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series playoff race at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, as per nascar.com.
The ordeal unfolded on Lap 216 of the 267-lap South Point 400. Following a scrape against the Turn 2 wall that triggered the seventh caution period, the right front wheel disconnected from Gibbs’ car as he limped through Turns 3 and 4. As a result, Gibbs was held for two laps on pit road, compounding their woes.
Under Sections 8.8.10.4.A & C (Tires and Wheels) of the NASCAR Rule Book, competition officials imposed a two-race suspension on the No. 54 team crew members in question: Braxton Brannon (jack) and Jackson Gibbs (front-tire changer). These suspensions will be in effect for the upcoming Cup Series events at Homestead-Miami Speedway this Sunday and Martinsville Speedway on October 29th.
