2021 NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Larson is well known for having a very diverse resume. Although he is primarily a Cup Series driver, he does compete in other racing series—and quite frequently so. In fact, he has been juggling between NASCAR races on weekends and dirt races on weekdays for many years now. To achieve that and still be able to win races in either series, is nothing short of miraculous.

Now, the Hendrick Motorsports star is eyeing up bigger conquests. For a while, he has been thinking of competing in the Indianapolis 500, following in the footsteps of Tony Stewart. As it happens, he is targeting the 2024 Indy 500, which should give him ample time to prepare. Though one has to wonder if he is taking far too much on his plate. After all, Kyle Larson is not Superman, and he has his limits, which was why he skipped this year’s Indy 500.

Of course, one has to wonder how Larson would tackle the Indy 500. Especially considering that the Coca-Cola 600 is held on the same weekend. Of course, both events will not be at the same time, as it would be a nightmare for the TV ratings. However, it will be a task to travel from Indianapolis to Charlotte in such a short time. Some fans joked that if it was possible, Larson could squeeze in a dirt race, just for kicks.

Some confessed that as unlikely as the situation is, the move would not surprise them at all. Of course, this is Kyle Larson we’re talking about, and the versatile driver would be a strong contender. Others begged not to give Larson ideas about trying to squeeze in a dirt race between the Coca-Cola 600 and the Indy 500.

Can the Hendrick Motorsports star really afford to do all this?

Truthfully speaking, there is every right to be concerned about his cramped racing schedule. After all, two of his teammates have already suffered injuries due to non-NASCAR activities. Chase Elliott missed six races after he fractured his leg. Though he has returned to action, his playoff berth is still not confirmed. Moreover, Alex Bowman too was ruled out for at least four races due to an injury suffered in a dirt racing crash.

Bowman’s situation hits a little closer to home because he was competing in something that Larson also loves. So it wouldn’t be surprising if Rick Hendrick would begin cracking down on extracurricular activities. Fortunately, he has chosen a hands-off approach and let his drivers have their own freedom.
