When someone has spent the better part of their life racing NASCAR, how do you take it away from them? Dale Earnhardt Jr was born in NASCAR and lived in an around NASCAR for decades. After racing for 19 years, he retired in 2017 from the Cup Series. Hi association with the game post retirement has proved one thing that – you can take the car away from him but not his love for the sport.

Dale Jr was on the commentary panel for the final race of the 2022 season, the Championship 4 race in Phoenix. In a video posted by NASCAR’s official Twitter handle, it was clearly visible how engrossed Dale Jr is.

After a good career in NASCAR, Dale Jr took the decision to retire; to not race full-time. He continued racing intermittently in the Xfinity Series for the team he co-owns, JR Motorsports. Dale has also competed in other formats of racing, such as exhibition races, iRacing, and the Go Bowling 250 event.

Alongside his on-track commitments, Dale is involved in NASCAR through his punditry and commentating arrangements. He is regularly seen on the commentary panel for the Cup Series. Junior also releases the Dale Jr Download podcast – a widely popular podcast series on the NASCAR world.

All in all, his retirement from racing was not a result of not loving NASCAR; he continues to keep himself in the sport in as many ways as possible. And if there ever was a doubt about how much he loves NASCAR and how invested he remains in the sport – you’d only need to see that video.

Dale Jr has been an integral part of NASCAR since his arrival in 1998. While its unlikely fans will see him race full-time again, his presence in the booth is priceless and loved by all.
