NFTs or Non-Fungible tokens have been all the rage these past few years. However, with the hype surrounding NFTs gradually diminishing since early this year, it seems that someone joined the bandwagon a bit late. Nonetheless, their announcement managed to divide the internet and the NASCAR world. Former US President Donald Trump recently announced his all-new NFT collection. Among the many avatars that he took, one, in particular, piqued the interest of NASCAR fans.

Recently, BBC reported that Donald Trump has announced his NFT collection via his social media network, Truth Social. He posted an animated promo video in which he was seen standing next to the Trump Towers. Ripping his shirt open, he reveals himself to be a superhero shooting lasers out of his eyes. Further ahead, he takes on an avatar of a NASCAR driver donning a flag-themed racing suit, marked with his initials, the number 47, and “Texas.”

Meanwhile, tokens were priced at $99 apiece and with a total issue of 45,000 tokens. Buyers of the Trump NFTs will also be automatically entered into a sweepstake, where they could win a variety of prizes, including a dinner or a game of golf with the former POTUS. In the video, Trump said that the cards would be “very much like a baseball card, but hopefully much more exciting.” It is worth mentioning that within just hours of the launch, all of Trump’s NFT cards had sold out.

People pointed out that for the NASCAR driver’s image it seemed as if Trump’s head was placed on top of a widened version of Charles Leclerc‘s body.

On other platforms too, superlative reactions were not uncommon, with someone asking, “What in the fresh hell is this?” The reaction was evenly balanced on some threads though. A keen observer noted how the numbers on his cards were all the same, but not in the case of the NASCAR NFT. Replying to the comment that, “Car number 45 in NASCAR is driven by Bubba Wallace. Trump’s supporters aren’t exactly… fans of him. Figure that’s why only the NASCAR one is 47 while the rest are 45,” a user argued, “That means hes running again, if he wins he’ll also be the 47th president.”

Trump’s interest in NASCAR isn’t new. He makes appearances in NASCAR events every now and then. However, his NASCAR NFT was something not many would have expected. At one point he mentioned that the artworks were based on the things he has done throughout his career. And though he has never been a NASCAR driver, at least he was able to find a way to live out the fantasy.
