2023 is certainly a special year for NASCAR. With the sport celebrating its 75 glorious years of racing, the organization has added 25 more drivers to its already-curated list of 50 greatest drivers of NASCAR (back in 1998). While greats like Tony Stewart and Greg Biffle have been added to the list, a recent tweet has fans riling over the legend, Jimmie Johnson!

Reacting to the NASCAR insider’s tweet, frenzied fans quickly jumped on board the bandwagon. Despite the organization’s efforts, fans were concerned about the omission of the 7-time Cup Series champion.

With just the last spot left, skeptical fans went on about suggesting drivers as they made a mockery of the tweet, some even calling out current drivers. While old-school fans are determined to see the legendary driver in the list as the last entry, others made it a fun adventure.

Why is Jimmie Johnson left out and who is the latest addition in the list?

While NASCAR enthusiast and pundit, Bob Pockrass is the man behind this commotion, NASCAR named its 74th greatest driver. Wednesday, Matt Kenseth, the 2003 Cup Series winner was named the latest in the list. Even Kenseth felt disappointed at the thought of the legend being left out. The driver then went online to express his gratitude for being named one of the sport’s greatest!

With 39 wins in Cup Series, Kenseth is certainly the rightful addition. Kenseth took his time to poke fun at NASCAR for avoiding his friend, Johnson. Who can forget the dominating run of Johnson, racking up win after win to an astounding 84 career wins? If that’s not astounding, the man went and capture the Cup Series championship for 5 consecutive years from 2006 till 2010.

Pockrass joined the party soon after with his tweet, and the fan community took the debate to new levels.

By the look of things, it’s evident that the organization is planning something special for its only 7-time champ. After all, like they say, saving the last one for the best!
