Just when you thought the enmity Ross Chastain generates in other drivers towards him is over after Denny Hamlin’s penalty and his payback, someone new enters the ring. It’s Kyle Busch, and he seems irritated with Chastain’s driving style as well.
Over the course of last season, Chastain created and maintained a reputation for making some really aggressive, but questionable moves out on the racetrack which not only compromised the races of his competitors but also earned him a lot of criticism.
This season though, he’s been an improved driver in that regard. But he has still shown glimpses of his old self, or at least, Kyle Busch has seen them, so far this season.

Kyle Busch almost calls out Ross Chastain on his face
In an interview on the pit lane after the Cup race at the Circuit of The Americas, recently, Busch was talking about Tyler Reddick’s win and his battle with the #45 driver as well as the mutual respect between them.
And it was during this interview that Ross Chastain passed by him, and Busch quickly made an indirect comment over the #1 driver.
“I got alongside Reddick there on that one restart into the esses and I could’ve forced the issue, pushed him off, or whatever, but we ran each other hard, we ran each other clean and gave each other room. So I respect the kid. He’s been nothing but great to me, so I give him respect back,” Busch said. “We’ve had some good races between each other. They were really fast, I mean, they deserved the win, there’s no sense in taking it from them.”
“Somebody else doesn’t know anything about clean over here,” he added when Chastain stood with his back to him.
What else did Busch say about the COTA race?

“Reddick, when we tested here, was super, super, fast. He was the best car here when we tested, and he just didn’t have the long-run speed, but then they went to work and figured out the long-run speed to go with the front-side speed,” Busch described as per RACER.
The two-time Cup champion claimed Reddick is “a really good road racer,” something he has proved over the last couple of years.

“So (it’s) cool to come home second and get a good one here,” Busch added.
