Over the course of a 75-year tenure, the NASCAR Cup Series has borne witness to numerous incredible statistics. There are the obvious ones like Jimmie Johnson, Richard Petty, and Dale Earnhardt tying for the most championships. Then there is a statistic, like Kyle Busch equalling Petty’s record for the most consecutive seasons with at least one win. However, those are not the only stats that NASCAR boasts of. Drivers like Dale Earnhardt Jr, Tony Stewart, and more, have laid claim to a lot more.
The conversation about underrated statistics cropped up when Jeff Gordon’s 797 consecutive race starts, was brought up. If we’re being honest, this is a pretty impressive stat, especially since his streak was from 1992 to 2015. The feat is impressive because there have been several drivers who had long-lasting careers. However, there were occasions where a suspension or injury would sideline them, breaking the streak.

Kyle Busch, Dale Earnhardt Jr, and more have similarly impressive stats
Of course, Jeff Gordon is hardly the first NASCAR driver to have a fantastic record. At Watkins Glen International and between 2002 and 2009, Tony Stewart either won the race or finished 2nd. The only anomaly was the 2003 edition, where the driver finished in a disappointing 11th place. Barring that, it just showed how dominant he was at The Glen.
Between 2002-'09, Tony Stewart's results at Watkins Glen were insane:
02- Win
03- 11th
04- Win
05- Win
06- 2nd
07- Win
08- 2nd
09- WinAverage finish of 2.5 over the span of EIGHT YEARS🤯It doesn't get talked about enough how dominant he was there.

Kyle Busch conquering every track the cup series raced on. It takes a cup of skill to win at one track. It takes a bucket to win to win at a many. It takes an ocean to win at them all

Jimmie Johnson’s 4 wins in a row in 2007 at Martinsville, Atlanta, Texas, and Phoenix. Hasn’t happened again since. Larson got oh so close in 2021

Morgan Shepherd has driven Dodge, Chrysler, Ford, Mercury, Chevrolet, Buick, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, and Toyota racecars in the NASCAR Cup Series.

It is also worth mentioning that Kyle Busch has won at nearly every NASCAR track. The only outliers in this scenario are the Circuit of the Americas and the Los Angeles Coliseum. However, there could be a chance that he could triumph at either track this year. NASCAR returnee, Jimmie Johnson also boasts of a 4-race winning streak at Martinsville, Atlanta, Texas, and Phoenix. This occurred in the 2007 season, and very few came close to replicating or beating it. Kyle Larson did come close though in 2021.
Here's a stat that doesn't get nearly enough appreciation: Matt Crafton's consecutive starts streak of 521 races in the Truck Series, which dates back to October 28, 2000.

Going a little old school, Morgan Shepherd became a bit of a jack of all trades. He drove for Dodge, Chrysler, Ford, Mercury, Buick, Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, and Toyota in his career. Meanwhile, in the Truck Series, Matt Crafton competed in 521 consecutive starts, dating all the way back to 2000.

It is also interesting to note that Kurt Busch and Kasey Kahne won a race for every manufacturer that they drove for. One thing that will make Dale Earnhardt Jr fans happy is that he has snatched a Top 10 in every Cup season that he has started. Finally, Darrell Waltrip pulled off a rare feat in NASCAR, where he won four consecutive races from pole position in the 1981 season.
