Ever since he became the first non-American driver to win the Xfinity title, back in 2016, a lot has been expected out of Daniel Suarez, more so after his entry into Trackhouse Racing. But sadly, the Mexican hasn’t experienced that ‘breakout season’ yet. Just this year, he finished 19th following a tumultuous season riddled with misfortune and inconsistency. While the unlucky season is behind him, it seems Suarez may still have reasons to worry.
Recent developments in Justin Mark’s team may stir things up with the arrival of Zane Smith, and Supercars Champion Shane Van Gisbergen. Why it may stir things up, you may ask??While Suarez extended his contract earlier this year, a team having 4 drivers for 2 full-time cars just doesn’t add up. Diving a little deeper into the scene, here’s why Daniel Suarez might be facing a tough eviction.

Now, as we stated earlier, the math quite doesn’t add up, with the team having 4 drivers and 2 cars. Trackhouse Racing has revealed its plans to get the Chicago triumphant, SVG into the fray in an effort to capture the title for the upcoming 2025 season after he gets a hang of it in NASCAR’s lower-tier factions.
Along with the Kiwi sensation’s landslide win in Windy City, outpacing and trouncing NASCAR regulars, Suarez’s inconsistency also has the community speculating about an early departure of the Mexican. To make matters worse, a few months back team decided to add Xfinity Series phenom Zane Smith, promoting him to the Cup Series under contract with Spire Motorsports, which will most probably expand to a 4-car team in the coming years.
While there’s no question about Ross Chastain‘s position in the team given his 2-win performance this year and his ability to bring in giant sponsors like Anheuser Busch, Suarez’s 6 DNFs and an average finish of 19 is certainly a matter of concern. Despite winning at Sonoma last year, the 31-year-old has failed to be in the limelight, even failing to make it past the regular season.

Even though the driver and the team are on best terms, with Suarez being an important asset to the team, another season gone wrong will certainly have him in hot water, probably prompting Marks to rethink his options, and jeopardizing Suarez’s championship aspirations.
