Piloting the No. 22 Shell Pennzoil Ford for Team Penske, NASCAR’s defending champion, Joey Logano isn’t exactly living up to his title in the 2023 season. While he secured the championship trophy with a Phoenix victory last year, this season has been far from stellar, battling with a sole victory at Atlanta this season. Despite a few numbered breakthrough moments, like his recent performance at Kansas Speedway, the echoes of unfortunate races have cast a shadow of disappointment and frustration over Logano’s 2023 campaign.

In a sport that thrives on uncertainty, Logano finds solace in one constant: his unwavering support system, his wife Brittany Baca Logano. Brittany has been by his side ever since his series debut and continues to be a source of steadfast companionship through the highs and lows of NASCAR over the years.

Brittany plays a dual role as an elite figure in the NASCAR scene and a compassionate advocate for those in need, making a significant impact on the community through her philanthropic efforts. Founded in 2013, Brittany is part of the core governing body of the Joey Logano Foundation, a charitable organization with a mission to provide a second chance to children and young adults during times of crisis and works to inspire others to live a life of generosity.

As the Founding Vice-Chairman of this organization, Brittany has been at the forefront of its activities, contributing to the growth and impact of the organization on the lives of over 250,000 children and young adults.

Despite her California roots, Brittany wholeheartedly embraced North Carolina as her true home. She spent her formative years in North Carolina, attending David W. Butler High School before graduating from the University of North Carolina-Charlotte in 2014 with degrees in Psychology and Sociology, cementing her connection to the Tar Heel State.

Brittany Baca and Joey Logano’s love story traces its roots back to their early teenage years, set against the backdrop of Joey’s family-owned ice rink, Extreme Ice. The credit for their meeting goes to Joey’s sister, Danielle, a former professional figure skater, whose passion for skating led the Logano family to open the ice rink. Growing up, Joey split his time between the race track and the ice rink, often darting back and forth between these two worlds.

Joey reminisced about his early years, saying, “I played hockey for four or five years, but I got to the point that I was racing so much, I’d miss half the games. It’s kind of like you have to pick one or the other. I wasn’t as good at hockey – I had fun playing, I still love playing – but I was a much better racecar driver. It seemed to work out all right.”

And his words rang true as it was at this ice rink that pitted the paths of Joey and Brittany. Brittany, just 15 years old at the time, worked in the rink’s cafeteria. Little did she know that her future racing beau was among her regular customers. Brittany recalled those early encounters, saying, “And I’m telling you, that guy, like, he ate more French fries than any person I ever knew. And I was like, ‘Okay, like, this guy is just loading up on carbs right now,’ you know?”

Joey, always finding a reason to visit Brittany’s stand, struck up conversations with her during these visits. However, Brittany remained blissfully unaware of Joey’s intentions. She soon discovered that Joey had been checking her work schedule and making a point to be present during her shifts. It was Joey’s sister who first introduced her 16-year-old brother to Brittany, and it was the holiday season when the duo was reunited once again at a Christmas party.

When and How did Joey Logano and Brittany Baca get married?

From Brittany Baca to Brittany Baca Logano, the story the two share is a heartwarming one that started with Brittany friend-zoning Logano. Joey later admitted, “She friend-zoned me, which I don’t really blame. Looking back at it, I wouldn’t date me either. I was the most awkward 16-year-old you’ve ever met. So I was homeschooled from third grade on, and my interaction with people was always at the racetrack, which was mainly guys, right? So she was, like, the first girl I ever really talked to.”

But it was all rose petals and shy smiles once again when Joey, determined to make his move, found the perfect opportunity for it as he once yanked the chair from under Brittany just as she was about to sit down. Although Brittany was not impressed by his antics, the two started talking and eventually dating. Logano added, “Well, that was our break-the-ice moment.”

Although the timeline for their dating years is under wraps, Joey proposed on November 13, 2013. The reason for choosing that specific date, Logano revealed, “It was 11/12/13. I thought, ‘Cool day. I’m gonna do it today.'”

In true racecar driver fashion, Joey popped the question with a ring and an unforgettable surprise, Brittany’s dream car—a 2004 T-bird. With the backdrop of a dark evening illuminated by Christmas tree lights and the shiny new seafoam green 2004 T-bird, they got engaged. Their love story continued to unfold, and a year later, on December 13, 2014, they took the next step and tied the knot.

The couple have three children, all under the age of 5: their sons Hudson Joseph Logano, and Jameson Logano, and daughter, Emilia Logano, who joined the family in February 2022. Their journey from a couple to a family of five has been filled with its share of challenges and joys for the duo.

The Loganos often affectionately call their kids “miracle babies” because Brittany had to undergo in-vitro fertilization treatments to conceive their first two children, both of whom were delivered via cesarean section. In contrast, the arrival of their third child, Emilia, was a remarkably smooth experience Brittany noted when talking to the People magazine. Brittany fondly recalled, “We always said, if God blesses us with one more, that would be fantastic. Really, we never thought it would happen. But then, here came Emilia.”

Emilia’s arrival was particularly special as it happened just hours after Joey was crowned the winner of the 2022 Clash at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
