Sponsorship is the double-edged sword that keeps drivers glued to their teams for decades or sends them packing, as in the case of Kyle Busch. This time, it’s Ross Chastain who has emerged from the shadows, courtesy of the colossal beverage and brewing titan, Anheuser-Busch. In a stunning twist, Anheuser-Busch announced their alliance with Trackhouse Racing, sealing a multi-year sponsorship deal that will see Chastain don the illustrious Busch Light brand starting with the 2024 season.
The beloved Dale Earnhardt Jr. recently delved into the topic on his renowned ‘Dale Jr. Download’ podcast alongside Mike Davis, shedding light on his own escapades when he inked a sponsorship agreement with a beer company back in 1999.

As for Chastain, the advent of Busch Light as his forthcoming primary sponsor does more than simply align him with the brand’s esteemed NASCAR heritage, and Dale Jr. seems to agree with the same.
Besides, during a discussion on the Busch and Ross Chastain partnership, Dale Earnhardt Jr. opined that he sees it as a perfect match, highlighting the remarkable feat of Trackhouse Racing reeling in such a colossal catch.
Adding to the intrigue, when Mike Davis and Dale Jr. were discussing if Ross Chastain even likes beer or not, he regaled the audience with amusing stories from his own initial collaboration with a beer company, Budweiser. Earnhardt Jr. candidly revealed that, ironically, he wasn’t a fan of beer at the time, but still, as his dad advised, he had to have it.
As Dale Jr. put it, “When I teamed up with Budweiser in 1999, I was not a beer drinker, not at all! Dude, we were going to the first dinner; the Busches, they own the brand; they were in this dinner.”
Adding to this, he said that while he and his dad were driving there, he asked, “Do I got to drink beer at this thing?” to which his father responded that he surely has to. And when he exclaimed that he didn’t like beer, his father asked him to get one of the red Coke Budweisers and sit with that at the table for the whole dinner with the Busches, much to Mike Davis’ and his own delight.

In Dale Jr.’s words, “Ross is all about him, I guess in a selfish way, but you can’t fault him for it. He’s worked really hard to put himself in this position, and he’s not going to give up anything to lose it… If you can’t handle it, you can’t handle it. If that means you don’t want to be his buddy, he’s fine with that.”
