While the epic open-wheel Midget extravaganza at Tulsa, the Chili Bowl, was a great spectacle for the fandom, acting as a buffer and keeping them engaged during NASCAR’s dull off-season, the five-night dirt racing feat, like any other promotion, wasn’t impervious to criticism. Drivers, including Cup Series sensation Bubba Wallace, along with other big shots, were flagged for their inadequacy in the indoor dirt racing series.
Coming to the meat of the matter, the 23XI Racing driver, along with Kiwi IndyCar sensation and Sprint car veteran Keith Kunz, got on the offensive, slamming the race officials for poor race management, citing how upsetting the track was. The Team Penske driver did not mince his words as he deemed the track conditions “terrible,” giving a huge thumbs down and expressing his displeasure publicly.

As we mentioned, the racing community was ecstatic to witness the action and drama that unfolded in Tulsa as the five-night dirt racing circus evolved into an epic hell-raiser for the fandom during NASCAR’s bland and lackluster off-season. The presence of Cup Series drivers like Chase Briscoe, JJ Yeley, Kyle Larson, and dirt racing aficionados like Logan Seavey brought in the crowd, getting the eyes of thousands of ardent fans.
What a bummer of a track this year😞

But there’s a catch here. With the whole community tuning into the bonanza, there was space for any error, which ultimately ended up being in the open, exposed to the whole wild world. While the officiating body was so concerned about racers and their cheat codes, pulling up surprise checks to catch any defrauders, the track situation fell under their radar.
Track is terrible

With more than 40 cars doing rounds, the dirt track is bound to get roughed up, but the officials did little to nothing as the anomaly was found in the open when drivers like Bubba Wallace, IndyCar veteran Scott McLaughlin, and KKM co-owner slammed the officials for such a pitiful lapse.

Announcer and FloRacing associates snub Wallace and McLaughlin’s comments
The 38th annual Chili Bowl was a run-away hit in the community. Despite all the positive remarks about the feat, there were also widespread criticisms about the track preparation and officials’ lapse. While renowned racers and drivers took the time to bash the authorities for their petty flaws, FloRacing’s content creator and ardent dirt racing enthusiast, Chet Christner, noted his thoughts, defending the promotion and its honor.
Taking to his social media, Chet Christner highlighted the fact that the whole series involved five nights and a full day’s hard work from the team, stating facts and reminding the hate mongers of the reality of the situation with a sarcastic response along with a sly animation.

He wrote, “To the folks complaining about @cbnationals track prep, let’s remember they nailed it for five solid nights this week & a majority of the day today. They missed the setup on the one 55-lap race, on the longest day of the week, all with cars on a completely different tire.”
