The 2024 Cup season has been a mixed bag for 23XI Racing, particularly for Bubba Wallace, who fought tooth and nail to keep his Playoff hopes alive until the very last regular-season race. In a heartbreaker, Wallace narrowly missed the cut, leaving him on the outside of the 16-car field. His frustration was palpable after the Darlington race when he remarked, “Tomorrow is Labor Day, right? I got to sit and dwell on it. Hopefully no meetings.” The sting of just falling short is something that will take time for Wallace to shake off.
But despite the setback, Wallace remains determined. He knows he’s got a fast car under him and is confident he can still snag valuable points throughout the remainder of the season. Starting from the 24th position in his next race, Wallace is hoping for a strong weekend and to finish the year on a high note.
There’s also a glimmer of hope on the horizon. With the next month bringing new opportunities, Wallace is looking ahead to a fresh start—one that could turn his season around and restore the momentum he’s been chasing.

How is Bubba Wallace keeping his calm?
All race drivers are wired to withstand failures as that’s a part and parcel of the game. You cannot just keep winning. And that also means that you cannot just keep losing. So, Wallace is hopeful of race wins in the postseason. And he is extremely focused on making the most of the next 4 weeks, as nothing would matter after that.
When Bob Pockrass asked Bubba Wallace about his sob days ahead, he responded, “I guess, for the next 10 weeks. I don’t know. I got 26 days to where oh people are gonna go way ahead with this to which we’re racing don’t matter. I’m about to have a kid. So, things are gonna change.”
For the drivers that just missed the playoffs, they need to try to move on … Bubba Wallace on how many sob days he has had, how many more he will and his outlook (he predicted yesterday he’d qualify 18th; he was 24th). pic.twitter.com/fC9oUraVHE

While everything else will happen yearly, having his first child will be a once-in-a-lifetime joy for Wallace and his beautiful wife, Amanda Carter. She has been a supporting pillar for her husband through his testing season, She penned a heartfelt note and shared it on her IG story after Wallace’s Playoffs dismissal. “Really tough night, really proud of my husband, been a hard-fought regular season, will still be hunting for wins this year, but this just hurts.”, read the note.
Now that the soon-to-be father is counting the days to his fatherhood, he is relying on his talent to get good results while he can.

The owners of the team are the lifeblood of the team. The vision that Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin had when they got their charters four years back is being thoroughly implemented. “I feel like we’re on the path to the five year plan that Denny Hamlin laid out to be a consistent race winning team and a championship contending team.”, said the team’s Racing President, Steve Lauletta.
The team has a lot of potential with the best equipment in the business and the right mindset. Despite Wallace’s concerning season this year, both the owners have placed ample faith in the #23 driver. Lauletta also reminisces about the last season when both the #23 and the #45 reached the Round of 12.

While the team is aptly motivated and strives for excellence, Bubba Wallace seems equally aligned with the task. Wallace concluded before the qualifying for Atlanta, “Every track we show up to, you can count on between #23 or the #45. And as the race struggle for myself, it’s all you can ask for is be competitive. And that’s where we’re at, so. It’s fun having the pressure of figuring out when the weekend starts ‘cause you know the car’s capable of winning, so make sure you do that.”
