Sitting pretty at the 6th spot on NASCAR’s Cup Series leaderboards, Trackhouse Racing’s #1 driver, Ross Chastain, seems to have successfully turned around his controversial season run. Always making waves for his on-track ‘wrecking ball’ antics, Chastain surprised everyone with a clean race win at Nashville. Following the same path at the wreck-filled Pocono 400, the Watermelon Man ran another clean race, avoiding any on-track altercations.
With Denny Hamlin’s final stage tango stealing the limelight, Ross Chastain has now come forth with a self-justification, causing the NASCAR world to go bonkers.

What justification did Ross Chastain deliver?
In an attempt to steal the lead from Hendrick Motorsports’ Kyle Larson during a final stage restart, Denny Hamlin saw an opening in Larson’s inside line. Placing himself below the #5 HMS car, Hamlin then proceeded to push Kyle Larson into the outside wall, causing him to smack into the SAFER barrier. Successful in stealing the lead from Larson, Denny Hamlin went on to win the HighPoint.com 400 at Pocono Raceway.
Driving down Victory Lane, Hamlin then proceeded to deny jeopardizing the HMS driver during the race, saying, “There was a lane. He missed the corner first and evidently, he didn’t have his right-side tires clean and when he gassed it up he kept going again. You have an option in those positions to either hold it wide open and hit the fence or lift and race it out. But those are choices they made. I didn’t hit either one of them. I didn’t touch them.”
"Both guys wrecked themselves."

Having fallen prey to Denny Hamlin’s similar move during last season’s Pocono event, Ross Chastain survived the 2023 season’s Pocono chaos, finishing in the 13th spot. Taking a hilarious gibe at his rival, the Trackhouse Racing driver recently put out a self-justification tweet. “It wasn’t me. [eyes emoji] In all seriousness, so proud of the fight of our @TeamTrackhouse @TeamChevy group. We’ll take a p13 and move onto @RichmondRaceway. Thank you for all the amazing support, @WWEXRacing!” Chastain wrote.
