Against the backdrop of the 24 Hours of Le Mans celebrating its glorious 100 years of racing, the NASCAR Cup Series race at Sonoma road course didn’t do much to excite the fans. With just two cautions in the whole race, many from the community felt the race was a bit dull or, as Kenny Wallace likes to put it, “boring.” The characterization was bound to poke some controversy following the lackluster event.
It seemed Wallace was in the mood for something spicy as the eccentric driver used his YouTube channel to spin the week to have a little bit of fun with it. The former Xfinity Series driver did not hesitate to take a shot at the Trackhouse Racing star Ross Chastain, mentioning a neutered Chastain!
Wallace also shared some insights into the NASCAR-HMS partnered Garage 56 that showed NASCAR’s capabilities to the whole world.

Veteran Kenny Wallace goes off the track, sensing some controversy as he fires off speculations about Ross Chastain
The past week certainly was eventful with Le Mans, NASCAR Cup Series, and a dirt race at Eldora. However, the absence of drama and action made the Cup Series race at Sonoma Raceway “boring” as per NASCAR veteran, Kenny Wallace. He even dubbed the race week, “The most boring week of racing.”
But that shouldn’t surprise fans who follow the eccentric dirt racer. In fact, Wallace is adored by fans for his offbeat and enthusiastic nature. And following the race, he is back again, but this time, with fresh speculations about the most polarising driver in the sport, Ross Chastain.
Reflecting on Chastain’s mellowed down current form despite wrecking carnage on the track just a few weeks ago with his rival, Kyle Larson. The Darlington incident and the overall pressure that it has mounted on him has certainly got him a bit on the back foot. Wallace made sure he brought out this aspect of the driver to weave a thread as he fired off speculations.
While the controversy-loving veteran tickled the community’s curiosity with ease, Wallace made it clear that it was all fun when he said, “Tongue in cheek. So, everybody, calm down. I told Charlie Marlo, our producer, I said, ‘That was the most boring d*mn weekend.’ We had no fighting. No Ross Chastain. Did we neuter Ross Chastain?” Wallace didn’t stop there. He had more to say.
Wallace even stated the shift in the drivers’ mentality towards the #1 driver, “Did he run into anybody? I think he did. But nobody got mad at him (…) Don’t get mad, Hermanator is not being negative, I thought how can we spin this week to have a little fun with it.”
Despite once being the leader on the point table, Kenny was not wrong in pointing out that the Watermelon Man was in his composed self, unlike the Chastain who is known to race down like there’s no tomorrow. That balls-to-the-wall attitude has certainly taken a backseat as the driver finished 10th.
The zealous veteran doesn’t let his rant end there, Wallace further explained the nuances in business as he mentioned NASCAR’s relationship with its most winningest team, Hendrick Motorsports.

The sight of a Cup Series car in 24 Hours of Le Mans is certainly a sight to behold and cherish forever. But the involvement and hard work for the dream project was indeed a tricky affair. Garage 56 is NASCAR’s brainchild and the project meant partnership with the organization’s top team, Hendrick Motorsports and Goodyear.
Rick Hendrick was contacted to help build a dream project that could hang in with the GTE class monster. And, guess what, HMS camp built a pushrod V8 Cup Series car that set the lap on fire. The crowd clearly loved the Blue Chevy as they popped pictures of the car when the glorious V8 roared past them.
Wallace, on the other hand, craved some controversy as he had then mentioned the business side of things. The controversy was informed by the shaky NASCAR-HMS deal, given the massive fine the organization handed to its Garage 56 partner months ago despite having the joint venture at hand. He said, “Big boys are able to. They can sue each other and still be friends. ‘Hey, bud! How you doing? I’m doing good. So, Uncle Rusty taught me when you get around NASCAR people, business is over here, and racing is over here. So, those two get together. NASCAR and Rick Hendrick get together.”
