Around four months are left until the big NASCAR excursion. But the excitement? It is already reaching fever level with four Cup Series stars! During the June 13-15 weekend, NASCAR is flying to Mexico City for its first international points-paying race since 1958. The hype is building up around the upcoming motor action at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez – but before that, Christopher Bell relishes a bite.

Recently, four of your favorite Cup racers visited Mexico City – including local Daniel Suarez, Chase Elliott, Ryan Blaney, and Christopher Bell. All four had a slew of items on their itinerary like visiting the racetrack. But what made fans’ jaws drop was their spicy escapade.

Christopher Bell immortalizes his ‘taco’ memory

We all have that special friend in our circles. They make us wait even after the delicious food has been served, as they are busy storing memories. Our first Cup Series contingent to Mexico experienced some of that recently. With Daniel Suarez leading the way, Christopher Bell, Chase Elliott, and Ryan Blaney took a tour of the city, took a golf cart ride around the racetrack, and marveled at the massive 80,000-seater grandstands. Their visit was topped by a special taco shop visit at one of Mexico city‘s most renowned eateries, Atarantados.

NASCAR posted a series of pictures and videos of this mouth-watering experience. All the other drivers huddled up close to Daniel Suarez, showering him with questions about the food. Then they took wholesome bites from their delicious-looking tacos and gave a thumbs-up in approval. But Joe Gibbs Racing driver Christopher Bell took a little more time than the others. That is because the No. 20 Toyota driver first took a picture of the delicacy, storing the historical memory. Suarez nudged him on the shoulder and asked, “Is this your first Taco?” Bell replied, “Yes, yes.”

Christopher Bell may be like a dew-eyed tourist tasting his first taco in Mexico City, but tacos and NASCAR have an old relationship. Seven-time Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson became a partner of a Charlotte taco restaurant, Southbound, in 2017. Johnson tried to replicate the local Mexican flavors in his hometown in Southern California, and it was a success. “I’ve been preaching that the Mexican food out there (in Southern California) is so much better. When this opportunity came along, I’m like, ‘I can’t help with a lot of stuff, but I think I can help here.'”

Now that NASCAR is back to tasting tacos, fans cannot get enough of it. That is especially due to Christopher Bell’s fanboy antics.

First Mexico outing leaves fans tickled

Well, Christopher Bell has always had a reputation for being humble. The baby-faced Cup Series star is a taciturn racer who keeps his strategies to himself while breathing fire like a dragon on the racetrack. So the ten-time Cup Series race winner tickled fans when they saw him savoring the Mexican tacos with gleeful eyes. “Bell would be the type a guy to take a picture of his food before eating 😭” Daniel Suarez did mention it, but one fan apparently could not hear it – Bell never had this Mexican delicacy before. So the fan figured that out just by looking at Bell’s awestruck expression. “I think that was Bells first taco ever.”

NASCAR on NBC put forward the best comment, probably. Unlike Chase Elliott or Ryan Blaney who dug into their tacos with watering mouths, Christopher Bell bided his time. Before sinking his own teeth into his spicy taco, he let his phone get a mouthful of it first. The comment read, “Phone’s gotta eat first.” – CBell, probably.” Then who better to visit Taco Bell than Christopher Bell? See the common ground between the two? If not, then this fan’s comment is sure to ring a ‘bell’ for you! “CBell.. tacos.. Taco Bell ??”

Other fans were simply heart-warmed to see four NASCAR drivers from different OEMs gather together for lunch in Mexico. Daniel Suarez and Chase Elliott belong to Chevy, Ryan Blaney to Ford, and Christopher Bell to Toyota. Unlike the beating and banging on the racetrack, one fan was happy to see them bonding here. “So awesome to 👀 different drivers hanging out and having a great time!! You have different teams and manufacturers sitting together enjoying each other’s company and having a great time!!”
