“We’re putting this together with some input from the fans. It’s going to be a true competition between the motorsports superstars,” Evernham said about the event.
It is said that the races will be run on short tracks and cars will not be controlled by aerodynamics, but drivers themselves.
The series will run on Saturday nights in July-August next year.
CBS is a partner of the event and will broadcast the races live on their network.
The idea is to re-create the IROC which ran for several years and had the best drivers from various disciplines face each other. Tony Stewart and Ray Evernham were both involved in IROC.
Speaking further, Evernham said, “Preparing the cars identically at IROC, we did a great job for what we had to do in the ’80s and ’90s. But we didn’t know as much about tires, carburetors, and aerodynamics.”
We’re looking at superstar drivers, says Ray Evernham

He added, “With these cars, we’re going to keep very short tracks. 1/2-mile paved, 1/2-mile dirt tracks and maybe a custom road course. So, aerodynamics won’t be a factor.”
Evernham also threw light on the type of drivers they will be targeting for the event. Tony Stewart is a confirmed driver for the series.
“We’re looking at superstars. And right now, there are many many guys who don’t run a full schedule,” Evernham continued.
“There’s tons of guys that still want to do it. But they don’t want to run 200mph. They don’t want to run 30-40 times a year. We’re going to talk to a lot of those drivers.”\
“The guys that are part-time, recently retired or former legends and the people we’re going to look at,” he added further.

The NASCAR Hall of Famer also said they will stay away from drivers who compete in NASCAR, Indycar, and IMSA. SRX Series does not wish to compete with NASCAR but have different eyeballs towards the series.
“We’re looking at about 12 cars. Now, that may just be 10 full-time drivers. The other two cars might be made up of teams of drivers.
