While #17 RFK Racing Ford crossed the checkered flag to hand Chris Buescher his 3rd win of the season, there was this one Ford that lay crippled. Mangled by the horrific wreck in the closing minutes of the race, Ryan Preece and his Stewart-Haas Racing Ford lifted up in the air, going for at least 10 flips.

While the NASCAR fans witnessed the sheer brutality of the sport in shock, NASCAR veteran and Joe Gibbs Racing veteran, Denny Hamlin revealed his thoughts. Speaking on Action Detrimental, Hamlin got candid as he once again revealed his dark side.

Following the aftermath of Ryan Preece’s vicious wreck at Daytona, the whole community had their hearts on their throats. The #41 car was sent for a toss, flipping several times like a tin can before it came to a stop, with the right front of the Ford on fire.

Fortunately, Tony Stewart‘s driver miraculously got out of the mangled wreck without any visible wounds and was rushed to a local medical facility for closer observation. During the final laps of the race, going full throttle while eyeing a win to make the playoffs, Preece’s ambitions took a quick turn as Erik Jones nudged the #41 car from behind.

Preece not only lost control of the car as he sped 200 miles an hour but was caught by his teammate, Chase Briscoe, who was coming from behind. This second contact sent the Ford like a matchbox in the air as he got flipped multiple times. While the entire racing community was stunned and resorted to prayers, Hamlin had other things in mind.

When asked about what was going through his mind, the veteran driver revealed his sadistic side and opportunistic self. He said, “What’s going through my mind is different than what was going through the minds of the other 35 guys mind.”

“I was just sitting there thinking man, I need y’all to wreck one more time because the #45 (Tyler Reddick) just lucky dogged and I’m still here, sitting back here just watching the race the entire time but at that point, I start looking at the scorer board because obviously my interest shift into what’s going, who’s winning this race, right? “

In no way was the community ready for such a vicious wreck, and the same was with Preece’s team. Seeing their driver getting airborne, tumbling across the grass, they cried in desperation, “Talk to me, buddy!” With Legacy Motor Club’s Erik Jones ticking things off, the SHR teammate also pointed out Jone’s flaw.

“The #43 just got us at the wrong angle and turned us left,” said Preece’s crew member as he helplessly watched his driver getting tossed around like a rag doll. With the entire fanbase at the edge of their seats, the team member also mentioned the obvious, saying, “We’re gonna kill somebody at one of these places.”
