Recently, NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin appeared in an interview with Barstool Sports’ Alex Bennett. He asked the NASCAR star an interesting question about what kind of award he would have to give himself. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver said, “I have to give myself an award? I guess best multi-tasker. Everything! Work, Family. You know, all that sh*t”. Honestly speaking, Hamlin will most likely be hoping to earn some other awards. In his 18-year-long career, the #11 driver has never won the Cup Series title. Additionally, he has also never won the Most Popular Driver Award. This year, he even failed to make it into the roster.
Denny Hamlin plans to work harder than ever in 2023
Now 42, Hamlin’s time is pretty much running out, to bag his maiden Cup title. As long as he is still competitive, the #11 driver should be fine. At this rate, he potentially could challenge Bobby Allison for the title of the oldest driver to win a Cup title. Allison was 46 years old when he triumphed during the 1983 Cup Series season. Of course, one cannot guarantee that Hamlin will stick around for four more years.

However, can he really endure more heartbreak for four more years? The 3-time Daytona 500 race winner has 48 race wins under his belt in the Cup Series. Furthermore, he has finished in the top 10 in the championship on 14 occasions. Out of them, he was in the Championship 4, at least 6 times. In 2022, he could only muster 5th fastest, so all that he can do is sit and rue what could have been.
