It’s a strange contradiction that a driver who started in dirt racing isn’t allowed to continue pursuing that love. Now that Christopher Bell has embraced victory in his ultimate passion ground, it seems right to thank only one person – Joe Gibbs. A sudden decision change allowed fans to witness one of the most exciting victories of all time.

While he had taken part in both the Winged Outlaw and Non-Wing Outlaw divisions, the Non-Wing Outlaw seemed to favor his luck and hard work. After two years of not seeing the dirt ground, Bell marked a sensational victory. It made it seem like he had always belonged to the dirt tracks.

Bell made a comeback, thanks to Gibbs

For the longest time, Joe Gibbs did not allow its drivers to make it to other forms of racing apart from NASCAR. It’s primarily because there was a feeling that drivers could get injured. However, in 2024, this went through a change and drivers found themselves getting back to dirt racing. If Joe Gibbs had not released the official announcement, Christopher Bell wouldn’t be where he is today. The Winged Outlaw category was Bell’s first event. This is where Kyle Larson had taken over the lead as Bell finished in the 5th position.

However, it was in the Non-Wing Outlaw category where Bell ensured to get back the grip from Larson. In a photo finish, Bell ensured he clasped Larson in the last lap, making it impossible for him to cross. Larson has tried to replicate the ‘Hail Melon’ move by Ross Chastain but in vain. This was exactly what dirt racing fans wanted to witness – Bell sealing the final deal with the checkered flag.

Speaking of how Bell is a prodigy in the work of dirt racing, Larson despite losing the final position to him said, “Man, I hate finishing second to Bell … but if it has to happen, I want it to be a race like that. … I’m happy he’s allowed to run dirt cars again because the sport needs it”.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Christopher Bell the new king of dirt racing, or does Kyle Larson still hold the crown?

Have an interesting take?

Not only Larson, but it looks like Christopher Bell also resonated with the same thought. Speaking about his victory, he said, “I’ve got four words. Thank you, Joe Gibbs”. Given that he is the same Bell who has bagged three consecutive Chili Bowl wins from 2017 to 2019, his last appearance was in 2022. Now that he has won, the next stop is Chilli Bowl Nationals, where he will pair up with Keith Kunz Motorsports. Bell would be driving the steering for the iconic #71 car.

However, the appearance at Chilli Bowl Nationals will not be straightforward. The upcoming run will be equally challenging given the strong competition from NASCAR rivals like Kyle Busch and Kyle Larson. With the stage set for the Chili Bowl Nationals, Christopher Bell’s return to dirt racing promises a thrilling showdown as NASCAR’s finest prepare to battle for ultimate glory.

The month of February looks tight for Christopher Bell

For many drivers, the Chilli Bowl Nationals might be the end of their dirt racing run. That is not the case for Christopher Bell. He will make a comeback for the 410 Sprint Cars with Kreitz Racing. Fans can likely catch him practicing in February.

Chatting about his upcoming stint, Bell said, “Watching the 69K run over the years has been super impressive. Don and the Kreitz team are top-notch, and I’m excited to see what it’s like to drive. I’ve been out of Sprint Car racing for a while, so I’m looking forward to getting my feet wet and see how comfortable I am in my return”.

However, the most exciting stint for Christopher Bell is on the way and is none other than the legendary Daytona 500. The Cup Series schedule is usually quite tough on drivers and, given the different nature of racing, it might be difficult for Bell to balance across genres. Bell would also be seen at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the season opener in March.
