It’s the start of a new chapter for Parker Retzlaff. The 21-year-old is all set to begin a new motorsports adventure after putting the controversy with Kyle Busch at Daytona International Speedway well and truly behind him. The Wisconsin native has signed up with Alpha Prime Racing in the Xfinity Series for the 2025 season and will be assisted by a Richard Childress-backed venture, despite the events that took place at the Coke Zero Sugar 400, which was Retzlaff’s only appearance in 2024.
After a brief stint at Jordan Anderson Racing, will Retzlaff find a long-term home at Caesar Bacarella’s Xfinity Series team? Time will tell. However, the young driver will be getting all the help he needs to make his NASCAR dreams a reality in the upcoming campaign.

It’s been quite a journey for Parker Retzlaff. The young racer began his trade on the dirt tracks in Wisconsin but quickly refined his skills at the iRacing simulator. His immense talent shone through, as he went on to secure a staggering 1150 race wins, which announced his arrival in the motorsports community. After a couple of part-time ARCA stints, Retzlaff eventually earned his place in the Xfinity Series with RSS Racing, and the rest, as they say, is history. Fast forward to 2024 and the racer has already secured seven top-ten results, outperforming his more experienced counterparts in NASCAR’s second tier.
However, Alpha Prime Racing presents a brand-new adventure for Parker Retzlaff, who will be getting the best equipment the team can afford for his No. 4 Chevy. In an interview with Caesar Bacarella, the team’s co-owner said, “Super excited about Parker (Retzlaff) because it’s going to be the first time ever where we’re going to lease motors full-time for Parker, for any of our cars. You talk about leased motors, it’s speed, you know. ECR has always given us great motors, but now we’re gonna have the best of the best so it’s super exciting to give the kid the best that we could possibly give him. I think he can actually win a race this year.” Earnhardt-Childress Racing (ECR) will provide engines to Retzlaff’s new team, which came as a shock, considering his tryst with Richard Childress Racing driver Kyle Busch in 2024.
Retzlaff was in the middle of a big controversy last year. The young racer made his only Cup Series appearance in the penultimate race of the regular season at Daytona International Speedway and made a big decision towards the end. Despite driving the No. 62 Chevy, the Wisconsin native opted to push Ford’s Harrison Burton instead of fellow Chevy driver Kyle Busch, which eventually cost ‘Rowdy’ the race and a subsequent playoff spot.
With the return of Brennan Poole and the addition of Parker Retzlaff, it looks to be a very strong year ahead for Alpha Prime Racing.

With the new season on the horizon, Parker Retzlaff is hoping to rediscover his love for racing after a lackluster campaign in 2024. Alpha Prime Racing will be leasing motors from Earnhardt Childress Racing for the upcoming campaign, which is co-owned by Richard Childress. It’s somewhat poetic that Kyle Busch’s boss will be indirectly helping the 21-year-old in the Xfinity Series, especially after the events that took place at Daytona International Speedway last year. However, Retzlaff will hope that the improved equipment propel him to better results, which will eventually earn him a place at NASCAR’s highest level.

It’s a new beginning for Parker Retzlaff. After 12 DNFs during his 2024 campaign, nine of which were crashes, the Wisconsin native has a point to prove going into 2025. It’s not surprising that Jordan Anderson Racing chose to part ways with the youngster, with a lack of funding also playing a part in the split. The 21-year-old seems to have found a new home in Alpha Prime Racing, and the team’s co-owner Caesar Bacarella said, “I’m just super excited to have him join us.”
The sentiment seems to be shared by Parker Retzlaff himself, who went on to say, “I feel like we still have something to prove. We all want to win races, be consistent, and prove we’re here to compete. Everyone here has told me how much they believe in me and what I can do.” Giving credit where it’s due, the racer went on to say, “Tommy and Caesar have put together an awesome team. It’s a big confidence booster for me to go into 2025 with a group that really wants me here.” Tommy Joe Martins and Bacarella co-own Alpha Prime Racing and have put their faith in Retzlaff when all hope looked lost.

In many ways, 2025 is Retzlaff’s chance for redemption. After losing his seat with Jordan Anderson Racing last year, the racer will want to prove his doubters and critics wrong with a string of solid performances in the upcoming campaign. He can take solace in the fact that his teammate will be Brennan Poole, who finished 16th in the driver standings last year, helping his team have their most successful season in its history so far.
