We aren’t an underdog in this one. We are very competitive,” were the stern words of Brad Keselowski’s emergent star, Chris Buescher. Evidently, these words were not imaginations and castles built on air but facts asserted through results, with three victories in one season and one of the teams where all its cars could qualify for the Round of 12 and have risen to be a championship favorite.

With the wheels of fortune continuing along with the wheels of NASCAR, RFK Racing has undergone a serious revolution since its restructuring. A team that predominantly occupied a liminal position is finally on the verge of reclaiming its glory. However, the path to success has always fallen prey to the skeptical eyes of NASCAR insiders, as Dave Moody recalls in the latest episode of NASCAR Live.

It was a clean sweep and a clinical win for team Brad Keselowski, as Chris Buescher surged from behind with the impetus from his teammate and held off Chase Elliott to win the third victory of the season on the iconic track of Daytona. With this newfound success, RFK Racing has become one of the dominant teams in Ford Performance. Surpassing championship-winning teams like Stewart-Haas Racing and Team Penske in terms of success, this two-car team has surely risen to be a championship favorite.

However, seldom is the path to glory an easy feat to achieve. With skepticism on the rise and raising eyebrows about leaving an established team like Team Penske, no power was enough to deter Brad Keselowski from taking his leap of faith. The gamble surely paid off, as both drivers qualified for the post-season; however, it was their emergent star, Chris Buescher, who was able to park his car in the Round of 8, along with the heavyweights of NASCAR drivers.

Nonetheless, owing to this profound success and one of the leading contenders of the 2023 Cup Series championship, NASCAR insider Dave Moody in his latest conversation with Mike Bagley on NASCAR Live expressed,They have been phenomenal. If you would come to me before the season and said that RFK Racing put two to the playoffs and Chris Buescher is going to win three times and they were and one car would advance to the Round of 8, with respect, we would have thought you are nuts based on where you are going.”

“You have 365 days ago racing Chris Buescher and Brad Keselowski were 21st and 24th in points. Today they are 5th and 11th. I don’t know there is a team in NASCAR that has improved that much in one season the way they did and you are right, he is kind of the stoke missile of the bunch, he could break through and win again and again.”

Outshining with three victories in one single season, Chris Buescher is surely leading his best Cup Series career. Despite lifting the regular season championship, JGR’s Martin Truex Jr. has disappointingly lost his form entering the playoffs. Not only did he fail to secure a single victory in the last six races, but he also failed to finish within the top 15.

As a result, Dale Jarret, in his conversation with NBC’s Rick Allen and Dustin Long, asserted, “I like Byron, Hamlin, Larson also… I think these three drivers have been the best and most consistent, fast all year long. But I’m going to throw in the young man that has had his best season. Chris Buescher, I think, has an opportunity right here to make his way into the championship.”

Having said that, and with NASCAR entering its penultimate stage and the semi-final of the playoffs, it will be interesting to see if Brad Keselowski and RFK Racing are able to finally turn the tables. Will they be able to outrun the dominant teams like HMS and JGR? It would be a spectacle to watch.
