In a recent podcast, the 52-year-old gave a baseball reference to say express that success in NASCAR’s lower-tier series, such as the Trucks or Xfinity, is no guarantee of future glory in the NASCAR Cup Series.

He said, “I mean, you go to AAA ball team, they might be great in the AAA, but then you bump them up to the big league, and they make that last step, and they struggle, and that’s how hard it is to make that jump into the cup series.”

Stewart praises Berry’s talent and promise but stresses the difficulty of competing with the finest drivers in the sport. He says it’s tough for up-and-comers to break into the Cup Series because of how competitive it is right now. “When you’re looking for guys to get in the sea, you’re looking for guys that are ready for that challenge, that truly understand what it takes to capitalize on these opportunities and know how to put the whole race together,” Stewart explained.

The Cup Series is not just about speed and winning races. Tony Stewart emphasizes the importance of understanding the intricacies of each race and capitalizing on every opportunity. Success in NASCAR’s premier series requires drivers to comprehensively understand race strategy and tire management and adapt to different track conditions.

The chance to join Stewart-Haas Racing is a huge step forward in Josh Berry’s career. Stewart warns, though, that Berry must fully understand the challenges of the Cup Series if he is to succeed. The young racer needs to prove that he can keep up with the tough competition and make the most of every opportunity.

Bob Pockrass tweeted a video of Tony Stewart’s testimony about his decision to hire Josh Berry. Moreover, Tony Stewart offered some deep reflections on the decision to get the 32-year-old on board. His statement was full of confidence and conviction. “We all are very confident off of Josh’s merit and his maturity; everything that he’s done and all the positions he’s put himself in shows that he’s a smart race car driver and that’s that’s exactly what we’re looking for for this four car.” Stewart’s unflinching faith in Josh Berry’s abilities left an unforgettable imprint on all who heard it.
