Sheldon Creed has had a fairly up-and-down campaign in the past couple of weeks. This time, though, things are looking up for him because he just received a massive boost to his career. Creed currently races for Richard Childress Racing in the Xfinity Series. Furthermore, he is a talented driver, having racked up 20 Top 10 finishes. Although he has yet to reach Victory Lane, it was not for lack of trying. This was because he finished 2nd at Talladega and 3rd at Phoenix.
With regard to the career boost, the RCR driver is expected to make his NASCAR Cup Series debut soon at the Kansas Speedway. It was recently announced that he would take over the #78 Chevrolet Camaro for Live Fast Motorsports. From a championship perspective, he sits 10th in the standings, three points behind rookie Sammy Smith.

Not a smooth sail for Richard Childress Driver
Of course, just as he enjoyed a few high points this season, the No. 2 Chevrolet Camaro driver has slumped to some low points. One of them came earlier at the Nashville Superspeedway a couple of weeks ago, where he made the same mistake that landed Denny Hamlin in hot water. In a fit of red mist, Creed ranted on the radio and admitted a desire to wreck Smith.
Naturally, that drew the attention of NASCAR officials, and not in a good way. The final nail in the coffin was when he acted on his threat, so he had to face the music. For his stunt, the Richard Childress driver was slapped with a 25-point deduction, something that befell Hamlin as well. In the end, he was classified in 17th place in the race, with the points deduction dropping him a couple of places.

Apparently, Richard Childress’ driver, was not impressed with the No. 17 Toyota Tundra driver, Sammy Smith’s driving standards, and made his displeasure known. Sheldon mentioned, “He is trying to get wrecked. I’m calm but I mean this nicely, if he holds it on my door on entry like that again, I’m going to slow down and turn right.”
That obviously rang alarm bells in his team’s mind, so they warned him. However, with his blood pumping adrenaline in full force, Sheldon Creed tagged his rival in the rear. Due to the contact, an unsuspecting Sammy Smith was sent spinning into the outside wall, and Creed didn’t get away scot-free either. The big loser in that mess was Brandon Jones, who tried to weave between the two but ended up hitting the Richard Childress Racing driver.

Now, all that is past history, and there is nothing that Creed can do but move on. Instead, he will focus on the remainder of the 2023 Xfinity Series campaign and try to improve his position. At the same time, he has his NASCAR Cup Series debut with Live Fast Motorsports to look forward to.
