The Charlotte Motor Speedway’s dominance is nothing short of commendable. They have hit a hat trick with their third year of sold-out events. This just shows us their dominance in NASCAR. We even have a special guest arriving to watch the race in action—former president of the USA Donald Trump. Moreover, Kyle Larson is attempting to etch his name in history and to be a part of that iconic race—who wouldn’t want that?
This isn’t just a race, but a testament to Charlotte’s unmatched influence in the racing world.

“The 600 is sold out for Sunday night at Charlotte”– tweeted Bob Pockrass! Clearly, NASCAR fans are in love with Charlotte Motor Speedway, but why? Let’s rewind to last year’s race. We had 31 lead changes among 13 different drivers, leaving fans at the edge of their seats. Then Ryan Blaney went head-to-head with William Byron and Martin Truex Jr and snatched his first Coca-Cola victory. This was truly a highlight of Blaney’s career. After this, he secured a spot in the playoffs, and then the icing on the cake—he captured his Cup Series title!
The track is extremely action-friendly because NASCAR’s next-gen cars just run better here. Ultimately, it gives NASCAR fans the nail-biting, fist-clenching actions they crave. Greg Walter, executive vice president and general manager of Charlotte Motor Speedway, shared what makes the Coca-Cola 600 so special.
Walter said, “For more than six decades, the Coca-Cola 600 has long been a crown jewel event for our sport. Outstanding on-track action, combined with a full weekend of music and patriotic military salutes on the eve of Memorial Day make this a bucket-list event for so many.”
This year the event is jam-packed, and officials at Charlotte are expecting a huge number both at the stands and at the campgrounds. The event will feature four races, including the 600, a pre-race concert by Matchbox Twenty, and various fan experiences. Fans are attending the venue from all 50 states, and that’s not all. We even have attendees from the District of Columbia and the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico, plus 14 foreign countries, including Australia, Tanzania, and the Czech Republic.
But while the event is sold out, that’s not to say it didn’t have hiccups along the way! Donald Trump’s attendance sparked a backlash from the NASCAR community.

Rumors about the former president attending one of the biggest races on the NASCAR schedule are not rumors anymore. Greg Walter just confirmed it. He told Erik Spanberg of the Charlotte Business Journal, “We are hearing that the 45th President of the United States is making plans to attend our race this weekend,” But Trump’s attendance didn’t get the sparks flying, but rather a confetti of backlash flying! Here’s why?
Well, Donald Trump has his fair share of controversies, but let’s not get into that. Fans don’t want him in Charlotte because according to them–he is a black cat at the face of NASCAR! Conspiracy theorists in the NASCAR world have taken to Twitter to say how Trump’s attendance can pose a threat to Chase Elliott’s life.

Coincidence or not, they are speaking out of concern because, when Donald Trump attended NASCAR races earlier, something gut-wrenching always happened. For example, when he showed up in 2001 at Daytona, Dale Earnhardt lost his life. But that’s not the only instance, there are others that all indicate that he is a danger!
But the strange angle is not the only reason fans are lashing back at Trump. You see, his attendance can even pose a threat to Kyle Larson’s attempt at the iconic “double.” Given the security protocols that are in place when a high-level VVIP arrives, it can make the travel plans difficult for Larson. The Federal Aviation Administration’s website reads, “No person may operate an aircraft over or in the vicinity of any area to be visited or traveled by the President, the Vice President, or other public figures contrary to the restrictions established by the FAA and published in a NOTAM,”

So Kyle Larson’s dream of doing the Indy 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 in a single day can be just that—a dream, not reality. Hence, fans don’t appreciate that, after all, they want Larson to make history not succumb.
