It seems Austin Dillon is having the best time at Richard Childress Racing! While his teammates are getting entangled in messes (and in this case, a brawl with a certain father-son duo), for the #3 driver, the only way is up. While his performances have certainly been a cause for worry, when it comes to financial backing, he’s in for a good time as someone with a secure seat and even better–a stellar sponsorship! 

Austin Dillon’s future is set for now

Dillon is 34, and he isn’t a rookie in NASCAR. Truth be told, he has potential. However, his recent performances have taken a hit as he currently sits 31st in the points standing after 13 races, after having been in this slump since 2023. So far during the current season, the racer has managed to break into the Top-10 on one occasion only (a P8 at Texas) if we count out the non-points All-Star race at North Wilkesboro where he finished P9. Even Top-15s have been hard to come by for him as he’s consistently finished out of the Top-20 in the rest of the races except on one occasion, where he got to P16 at Las Vegas.

Looking at how his last Cup race win came in 2022 at the Daytona International Speedway, he even had a crew change. Justin Alexander, who has worked with Dillon before (and is responsible for all of his Cup race victories, including the 2018 Daytona 500 win) recently replaced Keith Rodden, who is expected to take a larger role within the organization. Perhaps this change will help Dillon repeat history!

But for now, good finishes or not, Austin Dillon seems to be all set for the rest of the season with ample sponsorship backing. Richard Childress Racing made a big announcement on Tuesday: they’re teaming up with Marine Toys for Tots for a multi-year sponsorship deal. Marine Toys for Tots, a long-standing community program for the U.S. Marine Corps, will now be backing Austin Dillon in select races. Dillon took to Instagram to talk about the partnership and he even revealed the stunningly cute car! He mentioned how excited he was and said that you can see the partnership in Darlington. He added “It’s probably the favorite partnership we have had. To be able to back to our kids, the military ties of Toys for Tots is so exciting.” We can see the unique colors on the iconic No. 3 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 car at the Southern 500, taking place at Darlington Raceway in September.

Even the charitable organization seems excited about the partnership. They believe that this tie-up can help them reach millions of fans who can join in supporting their cause. Lt. Gen Jim Laster, USMC (Retired), President & CEO of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation said, “We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Richard Childress Racing and Austin Dillon’s No. 3 Car. This collaboration is a powerful way to drive the message of giving and community support across the finish line, reaching millions of NASCAR fans who can help significantly impact disadvantaged children’s lives during the holiday season and beyond.”

Having said that, this is not the only thing RCR news catching the community’s attention. Richard Childress recently made a revelation on the Busch-Stenhouse Jr brawl that left many surprised.

If you are wondering if Richard Childress still is as fiery-tempered at 78, he sure is. And we got firsthand experience of that after he publicly called his former driver Sheldon Creed “stupid” after his little run-in with then teammate Austin Hill, last year.

And even after the Busch vs Stenhouse Jr brawl, he had a choice of words, or rather threats, towards Stenhouse Jr. This itself is quite ironic given the past of Richard Childress and Kyle Busch. Let’s rewind to 2011, when Richard Childress famously told his grandson Austin Dillon “Hold my watch” and went about to attack Kyle Busch.

When asked about the fight, Richard Childress said, “I would’ve jumped right in the middle of it. I don’t fight as fair as I used to. I’m a little older. Ricky Stenhouse said that he was going to wreck the 8 cars at Charlotte. Well, when I see him, I’m gonna tell him if he does, I’m older, but I’ve just changed my style of fighting. He’ll carry a rough (expletive)-beating.”

This “hold my watch” comment was even referenced by Ricky Stenhouse Jr and he took a sarcastic jab at the RCR team owner! He said to Fox’s Jamie Little, “You know, short race you’re trying to get all you can get. We passed him and I guess he was mad. So parked my car in the pit box. I figured he’d do something like that. Maybe Richard will hold my watch after the race.” 

We don’t know about the watch, but the time for RCR doesn’t seem to be going all that great. Hopefully they can get to Victory Lane soon! What do you think?
