If you would’ve thought that it couldn’t get worse than the numerous tire issues and poor officiating from NASCAR in Texas, you wouldn’t have been wrong. But turns out, something worse did happen.
Alex Bowman of Hendrick Motorsports suffered a “concussion-like” injury in a wreck that didn’t look as bad.
But then again, Kurt Busch, who has been out for months, too fell victim to such an incident with such an injury.

Regardless, Bowman’s injury brought out a hurricane of criticism in NASCAR’s way from drivers, fans, and insiders alike.
And even though his crew chief, Greg Ives, took responsibility for what happened, the fans were not letting him have any of it. Because to them, there was only an entity who was guilty of what happened, what has been happening, and that is NASCAR itself.
NASCAR’s car, NASCAR’s driver, NASCAR’s responsibility

This isn't on you. It's on the people that designed this car. It's on the top dogs of nascar for ignoring the issue amd believing their "data" over what drivers were telling them.

No, it's not your fault. It's the damn car. I'm so tired of seeing our drivers getting hurt, and not seeing any steps to fix it. You have no control over how that car crumbles when it impacts. You didn't design it. Don't blame yourself. Advocate for change!

Not your fault Greg stop it ❤️@NASCAR make changes right NOW

Greg that isn't on you. You didn't blow the RR tire. This is on nascar, if we don't have the "low profile" tire, we have inner liners, taller sidewalls, stronger better tires. This is on the design and safety of the car. Don't you dare blame yourself!!

Don't beat yourself up Greg. It's not your fault that NASCAR decided to give the drivers a car that cared more for entertainment instead of the safety of the drivers.

NASCAR big guns react to Alex Bowman’s concussion-like injury
For all the right reasons, Alex Bowman’s injury incited a lot of opinions and reactions from those inside the NASCAR community, including the three big guns, former driver Dale Earnhardt Jr, and the two veterans, Denny Hamlin, and Kevin Harvick.
But while Dale Jr’s reaction was, well, just right, the other two expressed their frustrations and complaints about what is going on.
Earnhardt Jr. wrote in a reply to Bowman’s injury update, “Great decision to prioritize your health and your future. Stepping out at this moment in the season is extremely difficult but I’m proud of you Alex. You’ll get back to 100% soon enough.”
On the other side, Hamlin tweeted, “Pretty disappointing that our sanctioning body refuses to acknowledge or accept any responsibility for drivers getting hurt. It’s the same THEY said. We knew better. It’s wrong these drivers continue to get taken advantage of by the system.”

Happy Harvick didn’t seem much pleased either, as he referenced something his colleague Hamlin said at the start of the season.
“Completely unacceptable that those in charge have let things get to this point. I remember it like it was yesterday @dennyhamlin in the presentation of the new car to the drivers pleading that the car was too stiff. Data didn’t agree,” he responded to a tweet about Bowman’s wreck.
