Where’s the line with Ross Chastain? Is there a line? Will there ever be a line? Who will draw that line? It seems these are some of the questions that are becoming more and more urgent after every race in NASCAR because Chastain is really pushing the envelope.

The recent race at Dover was just another example of him sabotaging someone else’s race. Of course, he later apologizes for his actions and everyone thinks he would learn and be more mindful. But then the same thing happens again, and again, and again.

So the question again is, when is this going to stop?

Well, spotter Brett Griffin has an answer.

NASCAR Insider urges drivers to retaliate against Ross Chastain

In a recent episode of the Door Bumper Clear podcast, Brett Griffin reacted to the new entry in Ross Chastain’s book of drivers he has made mad, after he wrecked Brennan Poole and Poole hit Kyle Larson.

“Ross screwed up. Ross took out Kyle Larson and Kyle Larson later impeded Ross’ path at one point during the race to help Martin Truex go on to win, I’m not saying that’s how he won because obviously, he had a restart pit strategy play out, and other things. But at some point … Ross doesn’t believe anybody’s going to do anything to him,” he described.

“And until they do, he’s not gonna stop.”

Griffin recalled a Dale Jarrett-Ryan Newman example from years ago at Bristol when Newman wrecked the 1999 Cup Series Champ, to which the latter didn’t say anything. Basically, he didn’t react with words.

“I went down to Bob, I said, ‘Did he say anything?’ Bob said, ‘Nope.’ I said, ‘He’s gonna wreck the dogfood out of this guy,'” Griffin said. “Guess what happened to Ryan Newman coming back around? He wrecked the air living dogs**t out of him. Guess what Ryan Newman won’t do anymore? He won’t wreck Dale Jarrett.”

“So until somebody does that … because nobody’s retaliating.”

Listening to Griffin’s suggestion, Casey Boat claimed Denny Hamlin did retaliate against Chastain at Phoenix. But Griffin didn’t think what Hamlin did counts as retaliation.

“That’s lame. That is lame. Denny wrecked himself as much as he wrecked Ross. That was a lame excuse of wrecking somebody. That’s not an eye for an eye. I think Ross has 5 eyes and Denny has none as of right now, if we’re keeping score,” he argued.

He emphasized how “crazy” it is that Chastain has become such a big conversation in NASCAR right now. “There’s nobody more talked about than he is,” Griffin added.
