As the sun sets on the asphalt of New York’s racing arena, the grand spectacle of the NASCAR Cup season prepares to shift gears. The glimmering skyline fades into the rearview mirror as all eyes pivot toward the iconic Daytona track, where destiny and speed intertwine in a dance of high-stakes drama. The story would be incomplete without the presence of the perennial contender, the ever-dominant Denny Hamlin. But as the Daytona tracks beckon seems like Hamlin has other things on their mind apart from the race.

In a candid and fiery episode of the “Actions Detrimental” podcast, the #11 Toyota Camry driver took to the mic with co-host Jared Allen to reveal his deep-seated frustration with a particular feature that has seemingly been driving him up the virtual wall: Elon Musk’s enigmatic X and its ever-elusive algorithm.

Hamlin, known for his off-track antics as much as his on-track prowess, delved into the heart of the matter. He laid bare his encounters with the digital dilemma that had gnawed his patience for quite some time. “Off-track stuff, Austin Hill resigned with RCR. I noticed when he announced it that was the only tweet that popped up. You know ’cause I usually go the do you on X? Do you do the ‘following’ or ‘for me’?” the JGR driver said.

Jared quipped in to suggest, “I am too?”. Hamlin, clearly frustrated, added, “Which drives me insane sometimes because I like the ‘for me’ because it gives you the relevant news that you might miss, but also shows me tweets from people I do not want to see.”

“Well, it’s because you’ve stopped on them.” his co-host teased. Hamlin raged with good humor. “Yeah, I stop on them. Fuc*ing I don’t want to see this. Why do I keep seeing this?”

“As soon as you say their name, you see their name. You need to just really quick scroll up. Yeah, get it? Get out of my algorithm, yeah. But this tweet, the one you’re talking about, is one that I wanted to see, so I’m glad I saw it.” Jared advised.

In a world where algorithms wield the power to dictate our digital journeys, the 23XI Racing co-owner’s podcast rant serves as a vivid reminder that even NASCAR legends can be at the mercy of the enigmatic ‘For Me’ feature, all while providing a glimpse into the raw and relatable human side of navigating the complex web of social media.
