Can Denny Hamlin truly unwind with family, or is racing always on his mind?

Family time is of utmost importance to Denny Hamlin. And what better way to cool off before a stressful weekend than fishing in Florida? The veteran seemed to have a rejuvenating time with his family before heading to the Homestead Miami Speedway. However, Hamlin seems unable to keep his hands off the phone even during a fishing trip with family.

Denny Hamlin and his fiance got engaged earlier this year and have been seeing each other since 2009. The couple has two beautiful daughters – Molly and Taylor, who are 7 and 11 years old, respectively, and a bundle of joy for the couple. Hamlin’s younger daughter, Molly, seemed to have the most fun in Florida, even pulling some pranks to fool Hamlin’s friends!

Live bait more interesting than actual fish?

Fishing can be a joyous yet tiring experience. However, it seemed as though Hamlin’s younger daughter, Molly, was more vested in the live bait than in catching actual fish. Daddy Hamlin explained to her that the live bait were fishes that were sleeping. Hamlin even posted a photo of his beautiful girl, Molly, via his social media. The clever camouflage of Molly holding the live bait in a way made it seem daddy-daughter duo was finally able to catch a fish. The 7-year-old had her fun while fishing and even went as far as releasing the live baits back into the water, thinking that they would spring back to life.

Recounting his memories with his family during the fishing expedition, Hamlin mentioned, “As for fishing, I didn’t catch anything, though my kids seemed to have a great time. Austin helped us with equipment, and Jordan made sure we had everything we needed. Molly, my daughter, was more interested in playing with the bait than fishing. She held the pole patiently for a long time, waiting for the bobber to move, but eventually, I found her with the live bait, digging into it with her hands”.

Although Denny Hamlin was out with his family during a much-needed break time just before he hit the tracks on Homestead Miami, he seemed to be not 100% devoted to the same. While he was setting up the fishing expedition, he managed to keep up with the Xfinity Series Race as well at Miami, away from the purview of Jordan.

He praised Austin Hill for the brilliant performance he had shown keeping in mind how the Homestead Miami track is prone to tire wear. Praising Hill’s skills, the Joe Gibbs driver said, “Austin Hill’s win in the Xfinity race was really impressive, especially considering the track conditions. He managed to make the bottom line work as well as, if not better than, anyone else. It was a super impressive win, driving to the front from his starting position. I was fishing at the time but kept an eye on the race, watching through the corners, and it looked like he had a strong car, particularly in the long runs”. Hamlin and his fiance prioritize family time and often spend quality time with their two princesses. Denny’s fiance, Jordan, is quite active on social media and often shares tidbits of the family’s time.

Hamlin and Fish posted on Instagram with the caption saying “Proud is an understatement 🥹 Thank you @mtjfoundation @sherrystrongoc for including Taylor to sing the finale at last night’s Catwalk for a Cause 🎤 We are so grateful for all the work you do for these kids and in our community. #catwalkforacause #mtjfoundation “

With his daughter making him proud off the track, Hamlin will be eager to make her proud in Martinsville on Sunday. Hamlin narrowly missed out on a berth in Phoenix, finishing third after having the lead with two laps to go. With a Championship 4 spot on the line, Hamlin will have to produce a drive of a lifetime, and it will be interesting to see where he goes to cool off with his family before Martinsville. Do you think Hamlin will make the Championship 4?
