While Formula 1 is having a disastrous Las Vegas GP weekend, Denny Hamlin seems to be having the time of his life there. The Joe Gibbs Racing star recently turned 43 and had his celebration in the Sin City. Hamlin had to deal with disappointment this year as he failed to win the Cup Series championship despite being in good form. However, it is good to see that is he not ruing the past.

Despite Formula One facing certain challenges, Denny Hamlin believes that the Las Vegas Grand Prix is a good thing for motorsports as a whole. As per a report in Auto Week, the JGR man even said that the Las Vegas Grand Prix could see a lot of first-time motorsports event-goers.

The veteran NASCAR driver probably could not have asked for his birthday to come at a better time. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver was spotted enjoying himself around the track and the paddocks, meeting some important personalities from the world’s most popular motorsports competition.

The 43-year-old recently met Lewis Hamilton in the Mercedes F1 team’s paddock. Fans immediately started speculating, of course sarcastically, that he was trying to recruit the 7-time world champion to 23XI Racing. Fans even took some sly digs at Hamlin imagining he was asking Hamilton about how to win championships. However, Denny Hamlin has never cared about comments like that, and he certainly won’t this time, given how much fun he is presumably having.

In a recent video shared on Instagram stories, the JGR man was seen celebrating his 43rd birthday in an intimate setting with some of his closest people. The outspoken NASCAR driver was seated in a black hoodie with a small cake in front of him. As his friends sang him a happy birthday, the JGR man asked them to raise their voices. “Louder, louder,” he said.

Unlike some NASCAR drivers, Denny Hamlin seemed to be supportive of the Las Vegas Grand Prix. He recently shot back at fellow driver Austin Cindric for taking a dig at the most globally popular motorsports competition in the world.

Cindric had recently stated that it was impossible for fans who buy a general ticket to meet someone like Lewis Hamilton at the venue. While, in the case of NASCAR, drivers are always readily available to fans for a little chat and autograph signing.

“You buy a general admission ticket (at NASCAR), and you can come take a selfie with your favorite driver and get an autograph nine times out of 10, whereas if I go to [a] Formula 1 race, I’m never seeing Lewis Hamilton,” Cindric said as per Autoweek.

Denny Hamlin retorted back with a short yet stingy comment on Twitter. “Double edge sword. If something is easy to get it’s usually not very valuable,” wrote the JGR man who himself met Lewis Hamilton in the paddock.

The 43-year-old may not be a Formula One driver, but he certainly has made himself right at home in Las Vegas. It will be interesting to see which other F1 personalities he interacts with.
