During the latter half of last season, Bubba Wallace landed at the center of controversy after his incident involving Kyle Larson. He was highly criticized by many for his risky move against Larson and the pushing and shoving that followed it. This incident resulted in Wallace receiving a one-race ban as well.

However, it has been some time since that happened. Recently, during an interview, veteran NASCAR driver and 23XI Racing co-owner, Denny Hamlin, commented about the incident and urged Wallace to understand where to draw the line.

In a video posted on Twitter by journalist Bob Pockrass, Hamlin said, “I can use my own, you know, life experiences, both on and off the racetrack that I can sympathize with him that. You know, I’ve made big mistakes as well. And each one of them I’ve learned from in some way, shape, or form. I think it’s been different with him.

“I think he learned from that. He understands, you know, where he drew the line and where, as a race team, we draw a line. And I think that although he crossed it in that moment, I think that if it comes back around to him, he’s going to be better off now from that life experience.”

Hamlin learned from his mistakes and believes Bubba will do the same

Hamlin has been known to get into his fair share of fights and feuds on the track. One of his most notable altercations was with Joey Logano in 2019. The two drivers had been jostling for position when Hamlin ran Logano into the wall. This caused Logano to suffer a puncture. After the race, the two drivers had a confrontation which quickly turned physical, with both drivers throwing punches before being separated by their respective crews.

Another notable feud involving Hamlin was one with Brad Keselowski. One of their most heated exchanges came during a race at Charlotte Motor Speedway in 2014. After several run-ins on the track, Hamlin approached Keselowski for a post-race fight but was eventually separated by several people.

Despite all of this, Hamlin has had the time to move on from such mistakes. During the interview shared by Bob Pockrass, he also stated that he had learned from his past mistakes on track. Now with all of this behind him, he hopes that Wallace will learn from his mistakes and make sure to not repeat them again. We hope with the 2023 season about to begin, Wallace does not take out anyone else as he did with Larson last year.
