In 2024, Denny Hamlin will once again embark on a mission to win his maiden Cup Series championship. He has come close several times in the recent past but has never been able to get the job done. However, he exuded confidence to achieve his goal this year as he spoke about the new Toyota Camry in a recent Joe Gibbs Racing video on Instagram.
Last year, the driver of the #11 car failed to make it into the championship 4 but was one of the best drivers until the round of 8. This time, the 43-year-old will hope to take the extra step and achieve the goal he has had for more than two decades. He has already had a good start to the campaign with an impressive victory in the Clash at the Coliseum.

Despite not starting the Clash race well, the #11 car was lightning-quick after adjustments were made at halftime. Hamlin is also being slated as one of the favorites to win the upcoming Daytona 500. It seems like the new-look Toyota Camry has a lot of expectations pinned upon it, especially after the crash, and it will be interesting to see if it lives up to the hype.
Certainly, Denny Hamlin believes it will. In the recent Joe Gibbs Racing video, the 43-year-old expressed his new-found confidence in his new car and said that he was going to win a lot of races in 2024. He said, “I look forward to winning a lot of races this year. I’m healthier than I’ve ever been. Really happy about that, finally. And, certainly, this new Camry, I think, is gonna be lightning fast. So I think it’s gonna be a matter of which one of us is gonna be winning the races each and every week.”
“I just hope that we are the differentiator that makes it the #11 car but either way, I think it’s gonna be a really strong year for Joe Gibbs Racing and I enjoy being a part of it and hopefully we’re gonna fill this thing up well beyond these ventilation spots back here by the end of the year,” Hamlin further added.

The Joe Gibbs Racing star is well into his 40s and is still operating at a very high level. It truly is something not many people expect in today’s day and age. While a lot of his contemporaries stepped away from the sport, the driver of the #11 is motivated by more than just his title aspirations.

In a recent interview with 6 News Richmond, Denny Hamlin stated that the reason he has been in the sport for such a long time is because of his competitive nature. He did, however, reveal that he would hang up his boots the moment he felt like he could not win at every track. When asked if he would still be racing if he did not win the Cup, the JGR star said that he had another goal as well.
“I think I definitely would be simply because you know, my personal goal is to get to 60 wins. If I can get to 61 then I could be head of Harvick which puts you in the top 10 of all time. And I just think that that’s a goal that we can talk about championships but there’s been champions with 12 wins total, right? And so I just would rather get in the upper echelon of race winners and in NASCAR and I feel like that that stat will be more than this one in this column,” the 43-year-old said.
