Denny Hamlin is known to be vocal about his thoughts. May that be raising concerns over the safety of the latest Next Gen cars or calling all the drivers to come together against these issues? But who knew that he would take back his criticism so soon?

In a post-race inspection at Pocono, NASCAR disqualified Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch. Due to a front fascia at the nose of their cars, the governing body credited them with the 35th and 36th positions respectively. But Hamlin had already celebrated his win and the decision shocked and surprised the Joe Gibbs Racing driver.
Upset by the decision, Denny Hamlin posted a short clip on Twitter. He wrote “Live on EBay. 1 tainted trophy and 1 used bottle of champagne.” Moreover, he reposted NASCAR’s tweet with his daughter holding a checkered flag. He captioned it “Yeah, good luck getting that back.”

However, in a recent interview, Hamlin admitted that he and his team were at fault at Pocono. Accepting that the clear tape provided an aerodynamic advantage to the car, he said that his crew chief had no idea about it. He revealed;
“When we got busted at Pocono, we were transparent because it was so obvious like, ‘What are we doing here?’ When the wrap pulls back and the crew chief says, ‘What the hell’s that?’ there’s a problem.”
Apart from this, Hamlin also opened up about some other recent events. He talked about NASCAR’s efforts o improving the safety of its vehicles. And also shared his views on William Byron’s penalty reversal.

In an interview with Sportscasting, Denny Hamlin hinted that he is not that happy with NASCAR’s recent decisions. During the playoff race at Texas, William Byron spun Hamlin out while the race was under caution. however, NASCAR officials did not take an action at that time.

And around two days after the race, the governing body fined Hendrick Motorsports and Byron with $50,000 and 25-point penalty. However, Hendrick Motorsports appealed against the decision, and through a loophole, they escaped the point penalty. Now only a $100,00 fine has to be paid by the team.

Reacting to NASCAR’s decision, Hamlin said; “It was fortunate for him — unfortunate for me. NASCAR made their decision, and it’s just three guys [on the appeals panel] that said that it was different. It was interesting that they raised the fine but [gave] the points [back]. Super-interesting, for sure.”
