In the recent iteration of The Actions Detrimental podcast, Denny Hamlin reckoned that the physical activities off the track helped him mentally as he is only only involved in NASCAR as a Joe Gibbs Racing driver but also as a 23XI Racing team owner. The three-time Daytona 500 winner also admitted that sometimes the competitive spirit of an athlete leads them to take chances.
He said, “But accidents do happen, right? I mean, sometimes you plant your foot in the wrong spot and sometimes you hit a mogul that is unplanned, right? Or you just catch an edge.”
Further, the #11 Toyota driver ended up taking a dig at the social media comments from people that claimed injuries could be unavoidable and can happen anywhere.
Denny Hamlin stated, “Like there’s just so many different ways it can happen and people on social media are just saying, ‘Aw you can get hurt walking down the sidewalk.’ That is the stupidest. Can we just stop with that?”
“There’s more risk in extreme sports. So stop saying like, you can also get hurt while walking down the sidewalk,” added Hamlin.
